SCHEINRING, József

Restoration of a 19th century bureau - Summary The bureau is in the possession of the Budapest Historical Museum. Its brick-shaped, closed unit is broken up by the projecting top drawer and the 2 figurái columns at the front of the sides. The object was received in the restoration workshop in an incomplete and soiled state: the veneers broke out, the gluing was loose and there were deep indetations on the top. The signs of previous inexpert repairs were conspicuous. One of the drawers of the removable cabinet was missing. The sculptures were repainted several times and the arm of the right hand side figure was missing.

During restoration the author first cleaned both the polished and the unpolished parts with an aqueous solution of Evamin CC
