A Weissenburgban feltárt római fürdő restaurálásának tapasztalatai

A konzerválás és restaurálás munkálatait az ARTEX Külkereskedelmi Vállalat közvetítésével a Képzőművészeti Kivitelező Vállalat szakrestaurátorai végezték. A feladatokat a Bajor Műemlékfelügyelőség irta elő, de az igy meghatározott alapkoncepció keretein belül a restaurátoroknak kellett a részmegoldásokat kidolgozniuk.

Az alapelv az volt, hogy kiegészítésekre csak azokon a helyeken kerüljön sor, ahol a stabilitás megköveteli, vagy ahol az áttekinthetőség céljából ez feltétlenül szükséges. A fürdő feltárása műemléki szempontból igen jelentős volt, de tudományos jelentősége is legalább olyan nagy. Értékes adatokkal szolgál a kutatáshoz, az előkerült leletanyag révén pedig bepillantást lehet nyerni a fürdési szokásokba.

Experiences of Restoration of a Roman Bath Uncovered at Weissenburg

The works of preservation and restoration were carried out by the special restorers with intermediation of ARTEX Foreign Trade Company, and Construction Enterprise of Fine Arts. The task was specified by the Bavarian Supervisory Authority for Historic Monuments but restorers had to work out solutions in detail within the scope of determined basic conception.

The basic conception was to complete them only those places where there were required by the aid of stability or there were necessary for the aim of survey without doubt. The uncovering of the bath was very important in the respect of monument protection but its scientific importance was similarly significant. It has furnished valuable data to research work, and has given insight into customs of bathing by means of findings.-6 1-
