The Scientific Work of the National Archives of Hungary Trade mark of the Budapest linen draper's company (Hungarian Linen Company) of Armin Heksch Budapest, 22 January 1907. Since its reorganisation in 1874, the National Archives of Hungary has played the leading role in domestic historical research for a long time. Many of our most distinguished historians worked here for shorter or longer periods, some of whom were elected members of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Although in the middle of the 20 th century, as a result of the establishment of the Aca­demy's own institute of history and the change of archival roles, the National Archives lost its unique place in historical science, it still remained an important player in Hungarian scientific life. The Archives is a significant work­shop of several branches of historical science and the home of archival science. Publications, periodicals ARCHIVAL PUBLICATIONS [LEVÉLTÁRI KÖZLEMÉNYEK] The Archival Publications, founded in 1923, must be mentioned in the first place among all scientific publications of the National Archives of Hungary. The Archival Publications is the official scientific journal of the Hungarian archival community as a whole providing a universal forum for the publications of every archivist and historian. Its range of topics include archival science, subsidiary sciences of history concerning archival records, guides to archives, archives history, publication of sources, historical statistics and administrative history. The Publications supports the orien­tation of foreign readers through an English language summary and table of contents.
