Taenia martis (Zeder. 1803) Name of larva: Cysticercus martis Zeder, 1803. Intermediate hosts: Clethrionomys glareolus and Apodemus flavicollis. - Localization: thoracic cavity. - Extensity: 0.18% in C. glareolus, and 0.25% in A. flavicollis . - Intensity: 1-5 specimens. Collection data of the infested intermediate hosts: Clethrionomys glareolus - County Pest: Bernecebaráti, DeszkáBpuszta 08/04/67 = 1 case. Apodemus flavicollis - County Pest: Bernecebaráti, Deszkáspuszta 29/03/63 (1), 05/04/64 (1), 03/04/67 (2) = 4 cases. Characterization of Cysticercus martis The non-encysted larvae were found situated freely in the thoracic and sometimes in the abdominal cavity of the intermediate hosts. The larvae, which possessed fully developed rostellar hooks, were elongate In shape with the anterior end pseudosegmented. The posterior end is attenuated (Fig. 3). The colour of the larvae is whitish, and vary in size from 3x10 to 6x30 mm. The thin-walled young larvae 2-5 mm in diameter are globuler, typical cysticerci without fibrous capsule. The tnvaginated scolex is situated in the anterior third of the larva, 1 mm in size. The rostellum range in diameter from 0.30 to 0.32 mm, the suckers from 0.24 to 0.26 mm. The rostellum is armed with two rows of characteristically shaped hooks 28-33 in number. The larger hooks vary in length from 0.210 to 0.218 mm, the smaller measure 0.156 to 0.162 mm (Figs. 11, 12). Adult specimens of Taenia martis were found in a Martes foina definitive host collected In the Mátra mountains (County Heves). Note . FREEMAN (1956) clarified the taxonomical problems of Taenia martis Zeder, 1803. ABULADZE (1964), however, accepted the validity of the taxon Taenia intermedia Rudolphi, 1810 for this species. As the name T. martis is now generally used, we have applied this name previously (MURAI & TENORA, 1973).
