IUCN considers that this species will be threatened in the near future, imposing monitoring measures of the populations and specific conservation measures. Conservation measures taken so far refer to the population monitoring by personnel involved in wildlife management in Romania and annually estimation of population size. Annually, in Romania are hunted 20-30 individuals of lynx, based on individual licenses and a maximum limits set in advance by the environmental authority.
