Elena Alina ROVINA, Livin ROVINA, Monica NEBLEA - hill beech forest on superficial soils with limestone substrate (i). Most of the forests belong to the fundamental natural type which indicate that in most cases their composition was not altered by the introduction of alien species. Also, there are forests situated in the karst area that occupy approximately 23% of the forest area (functional category 1-2 k, 1—4 c and 1—5 j). The forests that belong to the 1—4 j and 1—5 1 category present ecological importance because of the valuable fauna. Even if the forests from the karstic area have a low productivity, these represent a decisive factor in ecological conservation of karst phenomenas and landscape. After deforestation were installed secondary grasslands that occupy a large area. Sub-Mediterranean influence determined the installation of typical shrubs (“sibliacuri”) on calcareous rocks at low altitudes. Coenoses with Syringa vulgaris, Fraxinus ornus and Sorbus borbasii that belong to the Asplenio-Syringetum vulgaris association, there are very common in gorges (Crivadia Gorges). Results and discussions Gradi§tea Muncelului Cioclovina Natural Park overlaps two Natura 2000 sites, with provisional regime of special areas of conservation, according to Order no. 1964/2007 concerning the creation of the protected area of sites of community importance as part of the European ecological network Natura 2000 in Romania: a) ROSPA0045, Special Protection Area with an area of 38.060 ha, declared by H.G. 1284/2007 regarding the establishment of Special Protection Area as part of the European ecological network Natura 2000 in Romania, with subsequent amendments. b) ROSCI0087, Site of Community Importance with an area of 39.818 ha declared by H.G. 1964/2007 regarding the creation of the protected area of sites of community importance as part of the European ecological network Natura 2000 in Romania, with subsequent amendments.
