Targu din Vale, nr. 1, RO-110040 Pitejti, monica_neb@yahoo.com Abstract: Grádistea Muncelului Cioclovina Natural Park is located in the §u reanu Massif, with subdivisions of Sebe§ and Orajtie Mountains, being bounded by Hafeg Depression to the west and Oräftie Depression to the north. It includes large areas of forests and other land uses — pastures, meadows, arable, karst areas, watercourses, historical monuments, archaeological sites and human settlements. The objective of this study was to establish a set of minimum management measures to maintain the favorable conservation status of the habitats and species of community interest. The management measures for species and habitats were set analyzing carefully and thoroughly the conditions in each site/area, especially the activities and specific threats of that sites. The proper application of management measures in the area of Grádiyea Muncelului Cioclovina Natural Park will ensure the maintenance of a favorable conservation status for species and habitats. Keywords: protected area, management measures, habitats, flora, fauna. Introduction The park was founded at the judicial level in 1979 and reconfirmed in 1997. In 2000, with the beginning of the law no. 5/2000, Gradi§tea Muncelului Cioclovina Natural Park was declared a protected natural area of national interest. According to the OUG 57/2007 regarding the regime for natural protected habitats and wild faunistic and floristic habitats, the park was integrated into the IUCN category 5. Physico-chemical conditions and climate favored the appearance and development of a specific and varied flora and vegetation. In terms of vegetation, in Gradi§tea Muncelului Cioclovina Natural Park predominates wooden phytocoenosis, respectively pure mountain beech forests, followed by pure beech forests of the hills. Another type of wooden vegetation is represented by pure spruce forests, mixed spruce, fir and beech forests, mixed beech forests and forests with Quercus petraea.
