Researched grasslands belong to the following counties: Murej, Sibiu, Bra§ov, Harghita. These grasslands are classified as Molinio- Arrhenatheretea, according to the system advocated by the authors: Ladislav Mucina, Georg Grabherr, Thomas Ellmauer (1993). Observations and field researches in theTárnavelor Plateau were conducted in 26 localities: Angofa, Ápold, Archita, Beia, Brädeni, Cloa$terf, Cri§, Daia, Fi§er, Gránari, Iacobeni, Laslea, Mihai Viteazu, Netu$, Noi^tat, Nou Säsesc, Red$, Roandola, Ruja, Saschiz Stejärenii, Stejariju, §ae§, §arpatoc, Teline and Vulcan (included in Natura 2000 Sighijoara-Tärnava Mare), were conducted during 2003-2010, during the vegetation period. In the studied area 14 plant associations were identified, 97 surveys being performed. Taxa in various stages of impediment have been identified in the flora of these grasslands, as well as European taxa threatened or included in national red lists: Carex hordeistichos, Dactylorhiza incarnata ssp. incarnata, Gymnadenia conopsea, Orchis coriophora Orchis tridentata, Euphorbia virgata, Inula bifrons, Ranunculus lingua etc. Keywords: flora, Red Tist, vegetation, Tárnává Mare River, Transylvania, Romania, semi-natural vegetation, habitats. Introduction Conservation of biodiversity is a complex process that takes place in a well-defined international and national legal framework. Natura 2000 aims to collect data on certain species of plants and habitats, mapping data on species and habitats (i.e. identifying, locating and ensuring their inclusion in protected areas). The objectives of this study are to identify major habitat types, semi-natural grassland types and the associations that form them, and to identify the vascular plants in the critical list. Materials and methods The studied territory included the following localities: Angofa, Ápold, Archita, Beia, Bradeni, Cloafterfi Cri§, Daia, Fi§er, Gránari, Iacobeni, Laslea, Mihai Viteazu, Netuj, M A R I S I A, XXIX-XXX, p. 9-41
