THE MAN IN THE MIDDLE—Who is the "man in the middle" as the above pictured Hungarian delegation confers with Rep. Sol Bloom (D-N. Y.) in Washington? Ostensibly he is merely another come with hat in hand begging for a handout from the U. S. Treasury and American taxpayers. But he is more than that. He is one of the most shadowy and sinister of all international politicians. He is a murderer and a traitor to his country. On his hands is the blood of 41 persons. He is a confidante and boon companion of the Red Fascist dictator, Josef Stalin. He was head gangster for Bela Kun-in that unsavory character’s short-lived but bloody Communist regime in Hungary in 1019. For that patriotic Hungarians sentenced him to death but later he was exchanged and banished to his beloved Moscow. He sneaked back to Budapest illegally and got caught, this time being sentenced to life imprisonment, after a trial on 41 murder charges, high treason and 489 other offenses. In 1935 Stalin thought so much of this ruthless killer that he offered to buy $10,• 000,000 worth of Hungarian goods if he weré released. Subsequently, when Russia and Hungarj signed a treaty he was released and he wcnl back to his first love, Stalin. He retumci to Budapest on Jan. 17, 1945, on the verj day the Red Army marched in. Having licked Stalin's boots, he is jm licking America's, pleading for aid foj "stricken" Hungary, which the Reds havi devastated and which devastation he did nol protest. Hungary was despoiled and looted by the Russians and now our money is wanted to rebuild it. The "man in the middle” will be identified in a subsequent issue of the N. Y. Journal-American while the House Foreign Affairs Committee, of which Bloom is chair, man, considers the Hungarian plea for alms. Ar.d should the plea of this Russian vassal be granted, WE will still have a man in the middle—Uncle Sam—as he is first, last and always, the prize sucker with the money bagsL_________ . THE MAN ON THE END—Who is the faceless man on the end, \ member of the Hungarian mission over here to panhandle Uncle Sam for some American taxpayer dollars? ,- i , Proof positive that queer people get to high places in Washington, the man on the end is a mass murderer, a counterfeiter, a traitor to his own country and a jackal for Red Fascist Dictator Stalin. He was feted at a Capitol luncheon, and Rep. Frances P. Bolton (R-Ohio), member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee considering the Hungarian plea for alma, was so enthused about it that she pinned posies on the group. But would Rep. Bolton be such a delightful hostess if she knew who the man on the jnd really is? Or would she recoil in horror? Does she know of the blood on this man 's lands? Does she know that he once sold >ut his country? Does she know that he has sold his body and soul to Moscow? —After years of imprisonment as a murderer and traitor, this man emerged to excuse his bloody acts with a defense of Communism. ‘ ‘What I did I did by conviction,” he said. ‘ DURING MY YEARS ÖÍ PRISON I HAVI NOT LOST MY FAITH IN COMMUNI8M.” Nor has he yet lost it. Because of hit murderous ruthlcssness he is called the ‘ political strong man” of Hungary. And, it is reported, he is again seeking to sell out his country by. begging Russia to incorporate Hungary in the USSR. So this is the man who wants our money to rebuild Hungary, which was looted and despoiled by the Russians, only to turn it right over to Stalin, once it is rebuilt with American dollars. The other two Hungarians getting floral tributes are Foreign Affairs Minister John Gyöngyösi and Minister of Justice Stephen Riesz. See tomorrow's Journal-American and you may well gasp at the company in which you will see the man on the end. He will subsequently be identified. VERBA VOLANT... Szomorú idők szomorú emlékei, a tragédia i UNMASKED—For the last three days the New York Journal-American has published in this space the picture of a faceless individual shown hobnobbing in high places in Washington. The above picture was published yesterday but with the face of the man on the extreme right obliterated. Today he is unmasked and his identity revealed. He is Mathias Rákosi, Deputy Prime Minister of Hungary, one of Europe’s most sinister political gárigsters with a shocking background of murder and treason. He is one of the Hungarian mission who came over here begging President Truman, with whodkhe is shown, for American dollar* to rebnild their country which the Russians stripped and ravished. Rákosi, whose soul and body belong to Red Fascist dictator Stalin, was once sentenced to life imprisonment for high treason, 41 murders and 489 other offenses, including forgery and counterfeiting. So important was he to Russia that Stalin bailed him out, freeing him so that he could couspire to sell out his country again. "DURING MY YEARS IN PRISON I HAVE NOT LOST MY FAITH IN COMMUNISM,” Rákosi declared when he was freed. Rákosi was People’s Commissar, a polite name for high priest of murder, in the shortlived bnt bloody reign of Bela Kun, whose Communist regime in Hungary collapsed in 1919. Rákosi fled to the protection of the Kremlin, returning in disguise in 1929, at Stalin’s bidding, to conspire against his own country again. That was when he was arrested and imprisoned until his master, Stalin, came to his rescue, freeing him under the threat of murdering some Hungarians the Reds were holding as hostages. A New York Times article at that tim» , said Rákosi was "esteemed in Russia be- | cause he is vice-president of the Communist International." WHICH 18 THE FIFTH 1 COLUMN OF THE REDS IN THE UNITED STATE8. Take a good Vfc.at Rákosi now and remember him. ---------1—f" — See the beady, eruel eyes, the cunning smile which is almost a leer as he laughs behind President Truman's back. And well may he laugh. Back in Hungary now, he is thinking, perhaps, of the absurdity of the situation—he, a mass murderer, hobnobbing with the head of the greatest nation In the world^-a Bolshevik revolutionary, wheedling money for the j Communists WHO AVOW THEY WILL YET OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT | OF THE UNITED STATES from which the I money is sought. Docs the White House know that Rákosi ! has sworn that all of Hungary’s trade will go to Russia, once she gets on her feet? Yet, Rákosi begs for American taxpayer dollars to reconstruct the country already In serfdom to her Red masters. An A1 Capone or a Dutch Schult* or a Legs Diamond calling at the White House could be no more incongruous than the visit of the Red killer above—Communist Rákosi. For sheer gall such a scene ha* no parallel. Will Uncle Sam fall for this one, too? THE MAN ON THE END—Here you see President Truman greeting Ferenc Nagy, Prime Minister of Hungary. Bnt who is the faceless man on the end? He is a member of thft Hungarian mission, shown above, which presently is knocking at the door of the U. S. Treasury, like almost every other country in the world, begging for American taxpayer dollars. The man whose face you cannot see is one of the most sinister of all politicians in Europe. His hands are dipped in blood. He was once sentenced to life imprisonment after trial as a traitor and murderer of 41 persons and for 489 other offenses. For years this man has groveled at the feet of Red Fascist dictator Stalin. The Moscow war lord thought so much of him that he offered $10,000,000 for his release. At that time, July 21, 1935, The New York Times said he was "esteemed in Russia because he is vice-president of the Communist International." Still a puppet on th- •• man now seeks U. 8. money to rebuild Hungary, which Russia ravished and looted. And once rebuilt, he could easily turn his country over to the Reds, lock, stock and barrel. Less than nine months ago this same man spurned the Western democracies,' de- j daring he wanted no part of them and that j all of Hungary’s trade would go to Russia— | if and when Hungary is put on her feet with American money. Yet this traitor and mass murderer has the consummate gall to beg for hard-earued | U. 8. cash which would never be repaid and which by his own admission would eventually flow to Russia. The pose you see this man in above is a j logical one for any person who would knife ( his victim in the back. It is no new pose for ; him. He was high priest of murder for j bloody Béla Kun when that Red despot took | over Hungary for a brief regime in 1919 j during which the streets of Budapest ran red. WHO IS THE MAN nn 1.
