Lincoln Way, Lisbon, Ohio DEUBEL STEPS OUT OF RACE FOR GOVERNOR . . . endorses Rhodes - Voinovich Cleveland, Ohio — On Friday, December 2, 1977, I publicly announced that I was an Independent candidate for Governor of Ohio. In my state­ment I said, in part, “I am not a fortune hunt­er, but a concerned citizen such as yourself. As a concerned citizen I am ready to help solve the many probléms which we, as a free society, are facing. I am prepared to work toward this goal.” At this time I also revealed my 10-point program entitled ‘Ohio Care.’ Among the high­lights of ‘Ohio Care’ were the following: A state-wide public school program funded by the State of Ohio to assure the best education for our children; A state-wide work program for all unemployed Ohioans; Incentives for industry in Ohio; Vocational training centers where all Ohioans 4- particularly young people — could learn a trade of their choice; The opening of a merchandise trading center which would sell and trade products produced in Ohio; The build­ing of the nation’s largest port facility in Cleveland. My statement and program were reprinted in huge quantity, and distri­buted throughout the state. Many newspapers carried my statement in conjunc­tion with paid advertisements. While traveling throughout the state these past weeks and months I was gratified to find that many Ohioans were enthusiastic­ally in favor of my proposed programs. However, during my recent trip to Europe I had conferences with many officials in government and industry. The results of these meetings gave me the assurance that I can best serve Governor Rhodes and his administration by bringing more industry and additional business to our Buckeye State, thus pro­viding more jobs and increased revenues to our state. Upon my return to the United States on September 19th of this year I consulted with many friends and respected persons in industry and commerce. These meetings have resulted in my decision to drop my intention to run as an Independent candidate for Governor of Ohio, in favor and support of the Repub­lican party ticket — JAMES A. RHODES FOR GOVERNOR, and GEORGE V. VOINOVICH FOR LT. GOVERNOR! I have known Governor Rhodes throughout his years in office, and I sin­cerely believe that he has done everything humanly possible to best serve all the people of Ohio, despite pressure from numerous groups with different views and interests. I know that some people are unhappy with Governor Rhode's performance in various areas, however, we must recognize the undeniable fact that there is no one man who is able to keep all the people happy all of the time! I can assure the people of Ohio that our present Governor Rhodes is clearly the most capable administrator to deal with the enormous problems presented by our difficult and confusing times. George V. Voinovich, Governor Rhodes’ running mate is a. most respected gentleman. His record of achievements in government service is outstanding. He served as a member of the powerful House Finance Appropriation Commit­tee for 3 terms, the House State Government Committee for 2 terms, and was Vice-Chairman of the House Environment & Natural Resources Committee for one year. He has sponsored over 85 bills that became law. After Ralph Perk was elected Mayor of Cleveland in 1971, Voinovich was appointed Cuyahoga County Auditor. He ran for Perk’s unexpired, term in 1972 and received the largest majority that any Republican ever received in Cuya­hoga County, with a 205,000 vote margin of victory. In 1974 he was re-elected Auditor with 68% of the vote. In 1976, Voinovich ran for County Commissioner and ended the Democratic party’s 44-year reign over the Cuyahoga County Board of Commissioners. Folytatjuk i— Nationalities Endorse Re-Election Of State Auditor Thomas E. Ferguson “Dirty Tricks” were used in this pre­sidential race. Franklin County Re­publican Prosecutor George Smith is receiving information from Donald Lukens and the Republican campaign manager who worked for the re-elec­tion of Nixon. Republican George Smith is the Republican candidate running for Attorney General in Ohio. Most Ethnics or Nationality groups came to the U.S. to avoid dictator­ship, tyranny and political oppres­sion. Donald Lukens has been closely linked to Tongsun Park suspected of being linked with the Korean Intel­ligence in Washington. He denies the charges. We need more “Human Rights” and not less in the U.S. and the World. State Auditor Thomas E. Fergu­son charged that his Republican op­ponent, Donald E. Lukens, “in the last two years has set the worst at­tendance and voting records in the Ohio Senate.” The Nationalities Committee have endorsed the re-elction of Democrat State Auditor Thomas E. Ferguson. He has proven to be the best friend of the nationalities by hiring ethnics to top level jobs. He leads other State Officials in this respect. He is against forced busing and refused an order by the Federal Judge Frank Battisti to write a 14.3 million State check to buy buses for the desegre­gation of the Cleveland Public Schools. He took the case to a higher federal court and won. He believes that school busing will increase taxes and inflation, without adding to bet­ter education. He also opposes the high legal fees amounting to millions for desegregation lawyers — both white and black and the high cost of gasoline although we have an energy crisis. Ferguson is vigorously fight­ing welfare cheating by exposing and insisting on prosecutions. He has al­ready started a massive computer program to stop welfare fraud on a grand scale. Many more programs are in process. He is also supporting legislation to give him more authority to stop welfare cheating. Reducing welfare fraud will keep taxes and inflation down. Many indictments have been secured. If Ferguson’s plans are followed Ohioans will save over 60 million dollars of fraudulent welfare payments. He is also pre­venting a further rise in taxes and inflation by eliminating wasteful and unnecessary government spending. Ferguson is being vigorously op­posed by the Republicans because he serves on the Reapportionment Board. This Board meets every ten years after each U.S. Census to re­draw Senate and Representative Dis­tricts of Ohio. The Republicans — as in the past — want to re-draw le­gislative districts favoring Republi­cans. If successful, the Ohio General Assembly will be controlled after, the 1980 Census for ten years by the Republicans. Special interests — such as Utilities — will be treated more favorably by Republicans. Utility rates along with other special interest costs will continue to climb. Ferguson is also on record oppos­ing the ever rising higher utility rates. He has spearheaded a state­wide petition drive in Ohio to con­trol rates charged by Utility Com­panies. Ferguson is continuing his drive to keep utility rates from rising and is seeking methods to reduce rates by eliminating the “Fuel Ad­justment” clause in utility bills. Ferguson is being opposed by the Republican Donald Lukens who is linked with Tongsun Park, the Korean Millionaire Rice Dealer who is also suspected of working with the Ko­rean Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) while lobbying in Washington. During the Congressional Hearings in Washington, Tongsun Park testi­fied that he gave Vt of a million dol­lars to members of Congress includ­ing Donald Lukens. Lukens denies the charges. Who’s lying? Several U.S. Congressmen have already been convicted and sentenced for receiv­ing payments from Tongsun Park. Lukens campaign manager was the Chairman of a special committee of campaign aides for the Presidential Committee to re-elect Richard Nix­on. His group was known to the Na­tional Press as the “Attack Group”. His group met daily at 9:15 A.M. in the White House to plan campaign strategy and reported directly to Charles Colson and the others that were later convicted of obstructing Watergate Justice and imprisoned. “Senator Lukens has the dubious distinction of being last in recorded activities of the Ohio Senate,” Ffcr­­guson said. “He was thirty-third among 33 senators in attendance jin 1977 and 1978 — having been re­corded as absent a total of 50 days out of 159 days of Senate sessions. He missed 325 out of 931 Sentte roll calls — again, the worst record in the Senate.” , “I believe it is vitally important that the voters be made aware of my opponént’s public record,” Fergu­son said. “I believe that if a person seeks and is elected to public office, the he '.should be obligated to carry out his duties. As a senator, my op­ponent’s job was to be in the Senate chambers during sessions and at hearings of the committees to which he was assigned.” “I believe Senator Lukens’ high absentee rate and low productivity demonstrates his approach to public office and his responsibilities, “Fer­guson said. Ferguson said Lukens’ attendance at hearings of commit­tees he served on averaged only 61 percent. From November of 1976 until Oc­tober 1977, Lukens received 89.9 per­cent of his campaign funds from groups and individuals out of Ohio. He flew to Korea on a number of occasions. The Nationalities For Ferguson is urging the re-election of Democrat State Auditor Thomas E. Ferguson. Be sure with Ferguson. Keep the in­­fuence of the Korean Cenfal Intel­ligence Agency out of Ohio Govern­ment. Republican Franklin County Prose­cutor George Smith has charged State Auditor Thomas E. Ferguson with misconduct in public office. Although he was granted $28,000 by the State Controlling Board to have the State Highway Patrol investigate these charges, he refused the money or help of the State Highway Patrol and refused to appoint a special im­partial prosecutor to make a fair in­vestigation. This indicates to many that he is on a political witchhunt to win votes for his election as At­torney General. Ferguson is encour­aging and welcoming an investigation of his office. He has requested and received the approval of the State Controlling Board to spend $48,000 for the independent audit of the State Auditor’s Office by a private accounting firm. Közben lassan kopni kezd a szó. Semmi se történik. Aztán földre ejti az ember a szót, ame­lyet a tenyerében magával vitt egy darabka úton, mint egy pris fénylő kavicsot. Vége... úgy mondják, nem is volt igaz. És megint 'gondolkozni kell, hogy vajon mire lehetne még várni. Mert h’árás nélkül nem bírja el az ember az életet. Egy paraszt szénát kaszált a part felett. A nap sok kezével a Szénába nyúlt és kifacsarta belőle az illatot. Ezer virág, ezer fű lelke szállt fel körülöttem. "AAz Ipolyban gyérekek fürödtek. Lejjebb suhancok lovat Vitattak. A víz habzott a mezítelen kis testek körül. Az álla- M'líatája gyöngyökét fröccsen tett a napba. Egyszerre megakadt a szemem. A város felett a me­gyeházon egy fakult vörös zászló lobogott. Mindig ott volt. Annyiszor láttam messziről és most mégis kiújult a tuda­tomban és elviselhetetlenné lett. A paraszt már ftem kaszált. Csak annyit kaszált, amennyi neki kellett, egy suhintással se többet. Ő is a vörös zászlót nézte. A nap a honti hegyek élére szállt. Az ; ember árnyéka megnövekedett az alkonyatban. Egy óriás kaszás . beért a városig. **' És odabenn a városban épp ilyen tétlen a másik. A szürke kishivatalnok az íróasztala előtt. Parancsok zuhognak rá.
