The meeting of the Executive Board of The Magyar Club was held on Thurs­day, November 18, 1993 at 6:30 p.m., at the Holiday Inn - Independence.The meet­ing was preceded by cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. by Mr. Sötét.An agenda for the meet­ing and a financial report were distributed to members.The first item presented was the patron ad for $75 for the Hungarian Scout Folk Ensemble.We have not received a response to date. A membership application was sent to Mr. Zoltán Mestris, who expressed in­terest in becoming a member. Discussion followed on plans for the annual Christmas part. Johnny Singer's or­chestra was to play, at a cost of $550. Christmas carols to be part of the pro­gram, along with a raffle. Plans were made to pursue the giving of Christmas baskets to needy Hungarians in the Cleveland area. Dr.Tóth, Mr. Dobos, Mr. Köteles and Mr. Peskay will contact area churches for names. Members of the Board will assemble the baskets and distribute them. We are still in need of momentos for the anniversary celebration.After the holi­days, another mailing will be sent to the members. A moment of silence was held in memory of Emery Szabó. Discussion was held on the permanent status of widows of members.The need for a board posi­tion to notify members of deaths and ill-Our traditional Christmas party was held on Friday, December 10, 1993 at the Holiday Inn - Independence, 6001 Rock­­side Road. The festivities began with a cash bar at 6:30 p.m., with dinner being served at 7:30 p.m. During dinner, we enjoyed traditional Christmas Carols. After dinner, we had a brief program. Following our program, we continued to celebrate the Holiday Season nesses of club members was discussed. Mr. Bojtos will forward the by-laws of MagyarokVilágszövetsége to Mr. Sötét and Dr.Tóth for further study before any deci­sion is made on joining this organization. Dates were set for future meetings. A board meeting will be held on February 10, 1994. A nominating committee will be appointed by Mr. Sötét at that time. On March 10, 1994 the Board will have a meeting. On April 3,1994, there will be a general meeting, at which time the nomi­nating committee will present their slate. Nominations from the floor will also be entertainted. Election of officers and direc­tors will follow. This will be a traditional dinner meeting. Mr. Dobos will coordinate plans, including a place for the meeting. At the February board meeting a new board member will be selected to serve the unexpired term of Ernest Tóth, who will continue as acting treasurer.This term expires in 1996. Due bills will be mailed in January to all members as we change our fiscal year to begin in January and end in December of each year. Discussion on the anniversary celebra­tion was the last topic on the agenda. A new date was tentatively agreed upon of Friday, October 14, since this was the only booking date available at the Holiday Inn - Independence. Mr. Dobos was asked by Mr. Sötét to be on the Committee for organization of the celebration. □ □□ by dancing to the music of the evening. The featured entree was Tenderloin Medallions. We had our usual complimentary wine. In addition, we had the opportunity to win some valuable door prizes. As in the past, year after year, this tra­ditional Celebration once again proved to be the highlight of the year! □ □□ The Forthcoming Great Event of Our Club Our 70th Anniversary Celebration of the Magyar Club of Cleveland is almost here. WE NEED THE HELP OF EACH AND EV­ERYONE OF YOU! As this will be a special event for each of us, we are planning a professionally-done video presentation of some of our past events and the history of our culture. In order to have this video presentation be­come a reality, we will need old pictures of video tapes pertaining to the Club or Hungarian activities in the Cleveland area and any other memories you would like to share with us. If you can identify your pictures as to the time, individual or the activities, please attach a brief note separately. DO NOT WRITE ON YOUR PICTURES! Also, send your name and complete mailing address, so that we may send your articles back to you.
