Itt most vér-folyók partból kitérőinek, Itt most már minden leendők gyérűlnek, Itt régi átkok mélyesre mélyülnek: Jaj, mik készülnek, jaj, mik is készülnek? The poem above is an other impressive Hungarian composition. It has no English translation. Here is another chalenge! The Cleveland ‘Magyar Club ’, with the purpose of perpetuating Hungarian Culture, abounds in talents. We will be more than happy to publish the translation in one of our future issues of our .Magyar Herald'. The poem was written by Ady at the end of World War I. The horrible affect of war was never and nowhere described more vividly. Since then World War II. and other wars followed in unending succession. How much appropriate it is ‘as a song of Chronicle'in 1989!? Tiananmen Square — horribile die tu! — ‘Gate of Heavenly Peace’; Jerusalem — h.d. — 'City of Peace' and so many other locations on the map today. History repeats itself the most terrible way. Poetically: it was written in the rhythm of the most ancient Magyar poem, ‘Adhortatio mulierum’. Most characteristic of the basic components of music and language. We, the current officers of the Magyar Club are looking forward to serving you by aggresively promoting the goals and objectives of the Magyar Club. Our executive board met and identified the key issues and opportunities facing the Magyar Club today. Let me bring the top six of these issues to your attention since they will provide the bases for our activities: The first issue is — how & where to celebrate the Magyar Club 65th anniversary latter this year? For this our co-chairman, will be Mr. Frank Dobos and Mr. Ernie Hudak. The second issue is — how & when to celebrate next year, the centennial and the start of the second century for Hungarians living in the Cleveland area? Options for such centennial celebration, in close cooperation with other organizations, will be investigated by our editor Dr. Stephen Szabo. The third issue is — how to significantly increase membership of all ages, and younger members in particular? Mr. Albert Ladanyi agreed to focus on the youth recruitment and I ask the rest of you to work on recruiting all ages. In fact, if each of you could bring in just 1 or 2 new members that would make our future activities much more exciting. The fourth issue is — how best to revise and update our constitution and by-laws and federal and state registration so that eg. any contributions, gifts, and donations any of us chose to make to the Magyar Club is tax deductible and also appropriatly recognized? Mr. Ted Toth initiated constitution revision and its update is now in final form composed by Dr. Albert Ladányi and is in the hand of our Board. The fifth issue is — what can we do towards the foundation and establishment of a permanent Magyar Home, which our children & grandchildren can further develop and grow into a vibrant Hungarian Community Center with facilities for museum, library, exhibition, banquet, meeting, entertainment, and even a magyar restaurant/hotel complex? Options for such an activity, with the cooperation of other Hungarian American organizations, will be identified and assessed by the Hungarian Center Foundation Advisory Board which with your help we will organize shortly. Our sixth top issue is — what are our most attractive longer term stratigic alternatives? Mr. Béla Köteles has kindly agreed to initiate our stratigic planning process. In summary it is our goal to aggresively start working on all of the top six issues & opportunities. Additionally, we are planning to continue our traditional programs. For all of these worth while and important activities we need your active participation, advise, and support. Because, as we all know, by working to-
