NOVEMBER-DECEMBER HARSÁNYI ANDRÁS PÜSPÖK KARÁCSONYI KÖSZÖNTŐJE 1993 Újra eljött az ideje, hogy lélekben meglátogassuk a mennyei seregek énekétől elbűvölt bethlehemi pásztorokat. Isten örvendező dicsőítése tölti be a karácsony ünnepi lelkületét. Pedig sokhelyütt a világon még karácsony napján is véres háborúk folynak majd: Ázsia és Afrika több országában, a nyugat-európai Északírországban, a mi óhazai délvidékünkön; Amerika számos nagyvárosában pedig napirenden lesznek a gyilkosságok. Ismeretes, hogy nyílt „etnikai tisztogatás” folyik a Bácskában és Baranyában, a románok magyarellenes tevékenységétErdélyben és a környező megyékben „burkolt etnikai tisztogatásnak” kell nevezni. Magyar testvéreink ezekben az országokban a világ szenvedő millióival együtt kiáltanak és könyörögnek az Úrhoz: „Fordulj hozzánk!Meddig késel?Könyörülj szolgádon!” (Zsoltár 90:13). A háborúk által pusztított országok, a megkínzott lelkek, a sebesült testek gyógyulásra várnak: békesség kell jöjjön, hogy szívek és ajkak Isten dicsőítésére nyíljanak. A jóakaratú emberek kell, hogy elhozzák a békességet a világnak. Minden népek meg kell tanulják, hogy csak egy világ van: a jóakaratú emberek világközössége. Csak ez a világ dicsőítheti Istent. Isten dicsősége a mennyekben van. A jóakaratú emberek által szerzett békessége a világnak Isten dicsőségét tükrözi. Magyar Reformátusok, Magyarok, szerte a világon, legyünk mindnyájan a békesség szerző jóakarat népe, hogy dicsőítsük Istent a magas mennyekben! BISHOP HARSANYPS CHRISTMAS GREETINGS 1993 Once again we are going to join the shepherds of the field of Bethlehem enchanted by the song of the host of angels from heaven: “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace among men of good will.” To praise God is the spirit of the Christmas festival, the spirit of joyful adoration. Yet in many parts of the world even on Christmas Day bloody fighting will go on, in lands of Asia and Africa, in the Western European country of Northern Ireland also in our old country of Bacska and Baranya; in many cities of America killing will be the daily routine. We know that there is overt ethnic cleansing in the Vojvodina and that covert ethnic cleansing is going on in Transylvania and in its neighboring counties. Our Hungarian sisters and brothers in these provinces together with all the suffering millions of the world cry and pray with one voice: “Turn, o Lord! How long? Have compassion on your servants!” (Psalm 90:13.) The war-torn lands, the tormented souls and the wounded bodies must be healed: peace must come to open the hearts and the lips for praise. People of good will must bring it. All people must learn that there is but one world and that there is no exception of being part of the worldwide community of good will. This is the only way we can give glory to God. God’s glory is in the highest heaven. Peace on earth brought forth by men of good will to the world will reflect the splendor of God’s glory. May we Hungarian Reformed people and all Hungarians of the world be of peace bringing good will who give glory to God.
