10. oldal MAGYAR EGYHÁZ The 20th anniversary of the building of the present church edifice in Allen Park will be celebrated on September 15th. A pictorial anniversary book with photographs of church members and families will be published for this occasion. Baptism: Chelsea Mychal Jeffrey, daughter of Michael G. Jeffrey and Suzanne Szalay was baptized. May God bless the infant and her loved ones. CARTERET, NJ Our Christmas Eve Candlelight service was a memorable event again, when the church was filled to capacity as usual. We would like to thank all who attended, ask our membership to continue doing so throughout the whole year also. On Christmas day the Lords Table was set for Holy Communion, attendance was not so great. On New Years day we had a combined service, and after it all who attended were welcome to the Parsonage to an open house celebration of the New Year. At the same we installed the newly elected officers of the Lorantffy Womens Giuld. New President: Mrs. Susan Papp, Vice President: Mrs. Mary Fischer, Treasurer: Mrs. Barbara Jenei, Corresponding Secretary: Mrs. Janet Hasek, Chaplain: Mrs. Helen Sheridan. We wish them good luck. The Guild’s donation to our church was $1,500 for Easter, and $5.000 for Christmas. Thank you all. Every first Sunday of the month there is a Coffee Social in the church basement between the two services, refreshments are taken care by Marge DeStefano and the Guild members. All welcome! The Men’s Club did very well last year, the officers are the same: President: Ernie Jenei, Vice President: Bobby Fischer, Secretary: Michael W. Kovács Jr., Treasurer: new member István Gergely. The Mens Club donated $500 for Easter and $1,000 for Christmas. Thank you! Under the skillfull management of Joe Kara they have 4-5 bus trips each month to Atlantic City to church members and people of this community. Members of the Mens Club will also prepare a Valentine’s Dinner for the members of the Womens Guild and their spouses on Feb. 16th. The cooperation between the two groups is really commandable. Our Annual Congregational meeting will take place on February 17th, after a combined service, the Installation Dinner for the Church Council members and other officers will take place on February 17th, after the service at Noon. This last year was the first one when we prepared a “proposed budget,” and we are glad to report that it worked! In our 1984 financial report we can see that the income was $11,000 more than the expenses, compared to deficits and hardly any financial improvements in the past. This is mostly due to the successful work of the Womens Guild and Mens Club. We also need the cooperation of the membership to achieve our goals for the year of 1985. We would like to remind you that on the 1984 Annual Congregational meeting it was approved by the membership that a church member in “good standing” is one who pays his or hers annual dues of $25 and at least $50 in donations per calendar year. Please do comply! There are major improvements planned for this year around the church, like closing up the entrance to the church basement, where the steps are always flooded from any rain, painting the church steeple and windows, renewing the amplification system in church, to prevent CB radios to come through during prayers and services, repair the stainglass windows, paint the Parsonage inside, etc. We ask the membership’s help in accomplishing our plans successfully. We are glad to report that the two Delbacs girls, Martha (16) and Anikó (12) adjusted well to living with Rev. Nitsch and family. Some church members are also gracious in helping the Pastor and family to overcome many problems of guardianship. FUNERAL: Anthony Toppo (85), Dec. 13, 1984. May he rest in peace. BAPTISM: Vanessa Lee Simms, Jan. 20, 1985, daughter of Annette and George Simms. PERTH AMBOY, NJ By the grace of God we have reached the New Year. We have received another opportunity from God to live, move and have our existence and fulfill our mission as his church. As we look back over the passing year and make our evaluation, we are happy to say that it was a very good year. It’s true we did not live up to our potentials as individuals nor as a congregation, however, we trust in the Lord He will forgive us, and by His Holy Spirit He will inspire us to work harder in building His kingdom of peace and goodwill among men. During the past year we faithfully gathered for Divine Worship Services, observed the Lord’s Supper according to our church traditions 12 times a year. Our spiritual growth was enhanced by the twice a week Bible Study and scriptural preaching from the pulpit. We tried to provide pastoral service to our members, and taught the young both in Saturday and Sunday School and made preparations for those in the Confirmation Classes. Our church organizations provided opportunities for social togetherness, and we hope that our people will take more advantages on joining and sharing in these activities.
