Our Annual Congregational Meeting was held on February 10th after a Combined Worship Service, which was followed by an “open House” given by the Pastor and His wife. Our Church leadership is strong and we hope and pray that God will bring to fulfillment all our plans and dreams. To His name be honor and glory forever. Vital Statistics: Funeral — Helen Jacko; Wedding — Ernest Marczi and Laura Üveges. STATEN ISLAND, NY Excerpts from the pastors report: “We offer our prayers of thanksgiving individually and as a congregation to God for the blessings we have received from His hand.” — “There were no baptisms, nor any weddings performed in 1984, seven funeral services were conducted. The communicant membership count is 50. One youth was confirmed, but we had no Sunday School class. Elders 1984 With dedicated support and cooperation the congregation continued to provide the funds for improvements and necessary maintenance of our church property. The members of the Church Council and the Women’ Guild worked diligently. As we prepare to bid “viszontlátásra” to the current president of the church Mrs. Olga Szabó, who is moving to Oklahoma, we wish to express our gratitude to her for her Christian service, leadership and charity among us. We shall miss her caring and dedication that “rubbed off” on all of us. The Treasurer reported the following: total income in 1984 was $23,442.05, balance brought forward $41,387.35, and the expenditure was $18,034.92, so the balance in the church treasury now is $46,794.48. At the time of this report, plans were made to have the installation dinner of the newly elected officers in the middle of February. Their names will be published in the next issue. TRENTON, NJ The good Lord blessed the Christmas holiday for our congregation. On Christmas Eve the church was filled with worshippers for both services. During the English service our Sunday School children also took part in the service. On Christmas Day, the scene repeated, that is the church was filled on both services. Ray Owens, a Princeton Seminary student helped with distributing the Holy Elements. On New Year’s Eve, the Lorantffy Zsuzsanna Ladies Aid prepared a supper, which was served after the worship service. Those who attended greeted the New Year together. Egyháközségünk életéről szóló évi jelentés e sorok írásakor készül és minden tagunk átveheti templom előtt és után az irodában. A szervezeteink bőkezű adományáért, mellyel az elmúlt évben támogatták az egyház pénztárát ezúton is köszönetét mondunk. A pontos felsorolást az angol hírekben tettük közzé. Legbőkezűbb egyéni adakozónk karácsonykor névtelenül kétezer dollárt adott. Nőegyletünk szorgalmas vezetői és tagjai nagy sikerrel rendezték meg az évi január 26-i disznótoros vacsorát. A régi hagyományos ősöktől örökölt régi szokás összetartó ereje szép sikert hozott. Ifjú Nőegyletünk február 9-én divatbemutatót rendezett. Minden egyesület tisztújítást tartott az új megválasztott tisztviselők neveit a helyi heti egyházi híradóban tettük közzé. Ez évben a legjelentősebb esemény a szeptember 15-re tervbe vett 20 éves jubileumi ünnep; 20 éve, hogy a jelenlegi templomot és az összes épületeket Allen Parkban felépítettük. A kis könyvbe fényképeket készítünk tagjainkról és szervezeteinkről. Anyakönyvünkből: elhunytak: Oláh József 67 éves korában, Dézsi Gusztáv 93 éves korában, Lőrincz Józsefné, sz. Fehér Mária, 87 éves korában a múlt év végén; az új évben: Orosz Lajos 84 éves, Karnish Etel sz. Balázsi Etel 75 éves, Petró Sándor 66 éves, Vámos József 66 éves, Kulcsár Józsefné sz. Kiss Ida 83 éves, Molnár Miklós 89 éves. Emlékük legyen áldott. Keresztelést az angol hírekben tettük közzé.
