Alas, I failed so many times! The proof of God’s love is the cross of Good Friday and the empty tomb on Easter. Helen accepted this love of God in Jesus Christ. She knew and confessed that the fulfillment of her life will become accomplished by meet­ing her dear Friend and Saviour, Jesus. Dezső Trombitás (On the funeral service of Mrs. Ilona Racz, president of the Woman’s Guild of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Hollywood, on the 3rd of April of 1985.) — NEWS FROM OUR CONGREGATIONS — — EGYHÁZI HÍREK — ALLEN PARK, Ml The spring bake sale of the Ladies Aid Society was again very successful: thanks to all, who helped. The Golden Circle Club and Dorcas Guild jointly sponsored the 5th Annual Paprikas Sunday, on May 26th. Our folk dancers performed an “old fashioned Hungarian village wedding” celebration: with authentic costumes, music, etc. under the direction of Julius and Vilma Szabó. 325 guests attended. Thanks to all, who worked and helped. The Christian Youth Fellowship at its last meeting made plans to attend the Annual Summer Youth Camp in August at Mt. Pleasant, Pa. 15 young people and the advisors attended the Annual Spring Youth Conference in Cleveland, Ohio, West Side church, on May 4th and 5th. The Golden Circle Club newly elected officers were installed on Sunday, June 2nd: president Jim Lorencz, vice president Bill Sarkett, secretary Amy Kulcsár, treasurer Louis Czanko, chaplain Andy Hovizi, sunshine chairperson Margaret Lokos. The Western Classis meeting was held in our church on Saturday, May 18th. A detailed report is found else­where in this paper. The Very Rev. D. Trombitás preached at both services on Sunday, May 19th after attending the Western Classis meeting from Hollywood, Calif. The Rev. Louis Hunter, minister arrived from Transyl­vania. He lives now in Michigan and is studying the English language so he may be able to serve one of the churches. The Holy Land pilgrimage of our church was enjoyed by the 25 people who traveled together from New York City. It was an unforgettable experience, which every mem­ber of the group will remember for a long time. There were two Hungarian Festivals, one sponsored by the Culture Club in Taylor, Mich., and the other by the Detroit Hungarian Club in Wyandotte, Mich. Our church mebers actively participated in both. BAPTISMS: Ashley Elizabeth McLaughlin, daughter of Russel McLaughlin and Janet Porch, William Steven Porch, son of Steven J. Porch and Carol Sue Sytma, Kate­­lin Dawn Spencer, daughter of Dennis M. Spencer and Dawn Veresh were baptized. Marriage: John E. Moyer and Veronica Helen Veresh were united in holy matrimony. CARTERET, NJ On Easter Sunday our little church was full with joyous Christians. We did not have such a well attended Easter in more than a decade. It was like a Christmas Eve service, which is usually the best attended. Holy Com­munion was served on both English and Hungarian services. The Flea Market of our Lorantffy Womens Guild was successful also. Some of our church members attended the Family Unity Night in our Magyar Reformed Church in Perth Amboy. Our Pastor participated in a continuing edu­cational program at Princeton Theological Seminary, organ­ized by the young pastors in the New Jersey area. Dr. James McCord, past president honoured our pastors, gave a perceptive insight of the Hungarian Reformed churches behind the Iron Curtain. He also informed us of the present and new reformed theological trends in the world. With spring at our door we are undertaking some renovating projects. The church towers, windows were painted, as well as the doors to the Sunday School, the inside of Parsonage, the garage door, porch, front aluminum siding, etc. As a project of the Lorantffy Womens Guild, the beautiful fur tree in front of the parsonage had to be removed, because of the etxensive damage by the roots to the sidewalk. The sidewalk was leveled and re-asphalted all around the inside property of the church. A new sound system was donated in memory of Mr. Joseph Nagy, Sr., by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Nagy, Jr., and family, as well as a new green Lords Table cover set in memory of Olga Norris-Horvath, by mother Esther Horvath and family. Ron Szabó a young electrician member of our church installed outside lighting outside the parsonage, fixed many electrical problems, donating material and time. The Church Women United Conference in New Bruns­wick was attended by 14 of our Guild members, the big­gest number in ages. Congratulations to Helen Dodge, who was elected to be President of the Conference next year, and Eileen Gergely who will be her Secretary. Our Sunday School children attended the Shriner’s Circus in Princeton. The tickets were a donation by Mr. Orosz of Perth Amboy, and the expenses of the bus trip were covered by our Church Council. On Mother’s Day the Men’s Club provided flowers for the Lords Table and for all attending women at the service, handed out by the children. The Guild had a very successful Fish Dinner in May.
