During the vacation of the pastor Stephen Dallos laypreacher supplied the pulpit and preached to both English and Hungarian congregations. The Summer Youth Camp report will be given elsewhere in the paper; our church bus transported the youth to the Mt. Pleasant, Pa. Thanks to the following adults who helped: Stephen Frohling, Ilona and Amy Kulcsár. The Labor Day Presbyters Conference on Sept. 1, 2, and 3rd, was attended by 20 delegates from our church: Ms. Ethel S. Vig is the secretary. Many of our members visited the old country and we greeted those in our Church who came to see relatives in America. “The Night in Budapest”-dinner-dance on Saturday, October 6th was a success: Mary and Bill Sarkett expressed their thanks to everyone who helped and participated. The annual grape festival date is Saturday, November 3rd. Every year, this is the most outstanding colorful ethnic event of the autumn season. Every Thursday the Christian Youth Fellowship sponsors a “Craft Night” for the Christmas Card party (5-8 p.m.). Statistics: baptisms: Jennifer Therise Simkus, daughter of James M. Simkus and Lane T. Woliver was baptised on Sept. 23rd. Casey Renee Ryan, daughter of John Ryan and Michelle Bacsó on Oct. 14th. Marriages: Charles L. Arvai and Cindy Lee McGee were married on August 11th. Francis C. Canning and Paula A. Maveal on October 20th. On August 5th we set the Lord’s Table for Holy Communion in thanksgiving for the New Bread. The Men’s Club concluded its fundraising with a dinner-dance, both with success. Rev. Nitsch participated in the Ministerial Association meeting in Ligonier, Pa. on the Labor Day weekend. In the middle of September he was a delegate to the convention of the Hungarian Reformed Federation in America, held quadrennially, for a week. The same weekend he attended an other conference in Toronto, Canada. In July and September young couples kept him busy, having to perform six weddings. Sept. 30th was the day of our very successful Chinese Auction. The members of the Lorantffy Womens Guild had sent out hundreds of letters to different businesses, from the beginning of the year, and the results were just great. The net income was over $3,440. We would like to thank all the women and our patrons for the success. The same afternoon our Pastor and wife Ilona represented our church at the 50th Anniversary of the ordination of the Rt. Rev. Louis Nagy, participating in the worship service and dinner in Bethlehem, Pa. Rev. Nagy will retire to Lakeland, FI. October 7th the World Wide Communion service was well attended. Sunday School has less and less students. The young couples move out of town. There are five students in the Confirmation class held every Tuesday night at 7-8:30 p.m. We look forward to the 50th Annual Dinner Dance to be held on Oct. 20th. Our women are working hard, every Monday night on Crafts to be prepared for the Christmas Bazaar to be held in November 24th. There will be Thanksgiving Holy Communion Service (Uj Bor) on Nov. 18th. The Womens Guild will buy new no-wax vynil floor to the kitchen of the Manse. Thanks!
