MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 11. oldal PERTH AMBOY, NJ While with the. beginning, of Autumn, we think of the end of the summer and harvest time, the falling of the leaves and the withering of the flowers. In the life of our ehureh Autumn opens a new beginning. Those that stayed away from the ehureh during the summer months, or went on their deserved vaeations, we get a great many of our ehureh mem­bers hack again between the pews and living their ehureh lives. With the month of September our church organizations regain the slowed down pace they left in June and all activities getin to full swing. Meetings and socials, dinners and church related spiritual events get renewed. It is also time for the Christian Education Department to welcome the children back. This year there is a change in this department. Because of the lack of co-operation by the adults of the church, we are cancelling Sunday School and leave only the department for our youngest to have Sunday School. All school age children will require to attend Wor­ship Services on Sundays, where there will be a Special Chil­dren’s portion with a message. Also those in Confirmation Classes will have to take notes of the Sunday’s Message.’ which will he discussed during the classes. Special Opening service for the new School Year was held on Saturday, Sept. 8th. From this forward until the school year ends. Christian Education will he provided for our chil­dren in our Saturday School. Children will be picked up by our church bus, thus providing transportation to all those who would like to attend. Sept. 23rd marked a special celebration in the church. The Women’s Guild extended an invitation to all church members to celebrate and thank God for Rev. Torok’s 10 years service as pastor of the congregation. A Testimonial Dinner was held in his honor, at which time he has received the gift of the Women’s Guild a New Hungarian Ministerial Robe. We all look forward to his many years of service with us. Vital Statistics: Funeral — Mrs. Doradeane Tutkovich (63) was laid to eternal rest from our church. Wedding: Miss Cathy Egry and Mr. Donald Gesek were united in marriage on Sept. 15. During the month of September our elders (8) participated in the Ligonier Conference, and our Pastor attended the Min­isterial Conference. McKeesport, pa The Summer season is over. We hope that you all spent your vacation fruitfully. Gaining the needed rest for body, mind and soul. It is wonderful that the Lord does not take vacation. “I am with you always.’’ Matthew 28:20. He w^as with us during our vacation. He gave his blessing upon our many workers of the International Village. Let us praise his name for the success and give our appreciation to the workers. Our Fall Schedule: The Choir rehearsals are held on Mondays again. The Choir was singing during all Summer. Thanks to the Lord, our church attendance was very good during the Summer. More than ninety members participated in the Holy Com­munion on August 19. We are asking the young adults to join the Choir. The Sunday School has a new teacher. Steve Torok. He will teach the voung teens: Brett Balogh. Lori Debrason. Kelly Pellegrino and Joseph 1). Tanias. This group is invited to the confirmation class that will begin on October 6, at 10:00 a.m. The confirmation class will be conducted by the pastor. There will be guest speakers on September 30th. J. Charles MacPherson will conduct the 10:00 a.m. English Service. Charles is a seminary student. Elder Sándor Chomos will conduct the 11:00 a.m. Hungarian Service. Several people from our congregation will attend the cel­ebration in Bethlehem, PA on September 30th. Our former pastor, the Rev. Mr. L. Nagy will be honored at that occasion. Call the pastor if interested. Worldwide Communion will be celebrated on October 7. English service will begin at 9:30 a.m., Hungarian service will he held at 11:00 a.m. On the First Sunday in Advent, December 2nd, Holy Com­munion will be celebrated, English at 9:30 a.m., Hungarian at 11:00 a.m. The regular Sunday English service and the Sunday School begins at 10:00 a.m. The Communion services in English begin at 9:30 a.m. The Hungarian services are held at 11:00 a.m. From our church record: Funerals: Mrs. Susan E. Schmelt­­zer, born April 24, 1895. Died July 23, 1984. Time of funeral: July 25, 1984. — Mrs. Esther Simon, born February 28 1887. Died August 10, 1984. Time of funeral: August 14, 1984. Mrs. Betty Bakos, born July 2, 1916. Died September 7, 1984. Date of funeral: September 10, 1984. “If we live, we live to the Lord and if we die, we die to the Lord.” Romans 14:8. TRENTON, NJ After the summer months, all the church organizations started their regular fall schedule. All the organization had their meetings and made their plans for the near future. Our Sunday School opened on Sunday, September 9th. During the summer months the 90th Anniversary Commit­tee worked faithwully, so that our thanksgiving service and banquet on October 21st should be a success. The Youth Fellowship sent 8 of the members and 1 adult to The Youth Conference. According to their own admission, they came home enriched spiritually and are looking forward to next year’s Conference. BAPTISMS: June 15th: The Rev. Emil Varga baptized. Josep'h John IV, the son of Joseph John Katona III and his wife Mary Ann Wojciechowski. June 29th: The Rev. Stephen Kovács baptized Melanie Helen, the daughter of Alexander Benedek and his w ife Helen Toth. WEDDINGS: August 26th were married in our church: Elizabeth Vecsei and David Chiaramoti. September 8th: Bar­bara S. Csak and Brin K. McClure. We ask God’s blessing upon the young couples. MINERALS: July 30th: Mrs. Margaret Pásztor; August 11th: Mrs. Julia Barkasy; August 19th: Mrs. Anna Nagy and September 8th: Mr. Stephen Ture. In the person of Stephen Ture, the Lord called home our First Vice Chief- Elder. the Chairman of our building Committee and at the same time a very faithful member of our congregation. We keep his memory in our hearts. The comforting power of God Almighty be with the sorrowing families.
