CARTERET, NJ During the summer most of the church activities were slow moving. In the organization of the Men’s Club we had the regular twice monthly trips to Atlantic City, with a very good attendance. The Lorantffy Women’s Guild had an interesting experience, when they were asked to serve at an Indian wedding, held at our rented Bethlen Hall. The women were welcomed to try the food, hot and spicy and participate in the reception. It was an experience! The meetings of our different organizations were halted for the summer and resume their regular schedule in September. During the summer the Women’s Guild had a very successfull picnic for its members, in a local park. Our Pastor and his family participated on the New Jersey Ministerial meeting on July 11th, in the home of the Rev. Steven Kovács in Trenton. Our Pastor Emeritus presented an excellent historical essey about the early reformation. These meeting were originated with the intent to learn from our experienced, scholarly collegues. The Rev. Kovács and Rev. Hamza had very interesting presentations also. During our Pastor’s vacation The Rev. Steven Kovács served our pulpit on one Sunday, and our own John Nemish, the Chief Elder of the Synod preached on the other. Thanks to both of them. Sunday School started on September 18, which contains a small sermonette for children in church, and the fellowship of offertory, and is followed by Christian education in the basement of the church. Cathecism for Confirmation is held every Tuesday night from 7- 8:30 P.M. for young people age 13 and over. On October 2 the Lord’s Table will be set for World Wide Communion and New Wine. McKeesport, pa On Pentecost Sunday we celebrated the Holy Communion during both of the worship services and Holy Communion was celebrated as our thanksgiving for the new bread on August 7, 1983. The Ladies prepared the annual Father’s Day Dinner. The highlight of our Summer activities is the International Village. This is a city-wide ethnic event, when besides our Hungarian booth about a dozen other nationalities are selling their ethnic food and preparing the programs of folk dances and singing. This year we celebrated at the front of our church in the city park the 23rd International Village. This event is growing every year and from our congregation we had about a hundred people working in preparing or selling the food. We are thankful to the Lord for the good attendance of our services and also for the success of our social activities. The attendance showed between 30 and 40 children participating daily.
