MAGZAReOZhAZ NEWS FROM THE CONGREGATION^] AKRON, OHIO The clear income of our church bazaar was $2,554.— the biggest during the history of our church. 182 person participated in the Holy Com­munion service in our church an additional 24 received the holy elements in Lorantffy Care Center. Funerals: November 24, Henry Weisberger, november 26, Mrs. Mary Gömöry, december 11th, Ferenc Varga, the father of our Chief Elder. May God comfort their loved ones. Our holiday schedule: December 21st, Sunday at 7 p.m. Candlelight service, Christ­mas party for our children. December 24th, Christmas Eve at 7 p.m. English service with Holy Communion. December 25th, Christmas Day at 10 a.m. Hungarian service with Holy Communion. December 26th, Friday at 10 a.m. Holy Communion in Lorantffy Care Center. ALLEN PARK, MICH. A blessed, peaceful holiday season and a happy New Year to our members and friends! All organizations of the church had a com­bined Christmas party in our auditorium: they all made generous donations to the church for the holiday. Thanks and appreciation to all! The Sunday School Christmas program was held on Sunday December 21st, when the children received special gifts and every teacher was recognized. The choir members also participated. The annual Christmas social of the Christian Youth Fellowship was attended by 400 people. Proceeds will be used to furnish their club room. January 1st, 1981 New Year’s Day there will be a combined worship service at 11 o’clock. Start the New Year right by coming to church. The traditional New Year’s Eve dinner sponsored by the Golden Circle Club was attended by many members and friends. Thanks to all who worked, came and helped to make it a successful venture. Statistics—Baptism: Melissa Susan Jeffery, daughter of Michael J. Jeffery and Susan Szalay; Craig Mitchell Sopo, son of Ronald J. Sopo and Barbara Smerick; Tiffany Elizabeth Woolery, daughter of Roy Charles Woolery and Eleanor Manoogian. Marriages: Dale R. Wooliver and Patricia A. Williams, Nov. 1st; Anthony Curelis and Maria Lakatos, Nov. 22nd. The annual “disznótoros vacsora” (pork supper) will be held by the Ladies Aid, January 24 th. BETHLEHEM, PA. On November 9th we baptized Joshua Claude, the son of Marvin L. Smoyer and Elizabeth Nagy Smoyer. Godparents: Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Babe, State College, Pa. On November 2nd Rev. L. Nagy preached in Toronto, Ontario Canada and he was the speaker at the banquet at the First Hungarian Reformed Church. During his absence his wife Mrs. L. Nagy preached in Bethlehem. On November 23rd the thanksgiving for New Wine holy communion service the elements were donated by Mr. Frank Athis and Mrs. Esther Wohlbach. 40% of our congregation participated in the communion service. On December the 14th an afternoon Tea-Party will be held for the members and friends of our church. On December 22nd and 23rd we will take communion for shut-ins and sick people. On December 24th, Christmas Eve, at 7:00 p.m. we will have English holy communion service. Hungarian and English Christmas church service with holy communion will be held on December 25th at 10:30 a.m. The holy elements will be donated by Mr. and Mrs. Balint Balogh and Rev. and Mrs. L. Nagy. On New Years Eve, December 31st our church service will start at 7:00 p.m. On January 25th 1981 at the Congregational meeting the minister, the chief elder and the treasurer will make their yearly reports. Our Lenten communion will be held on March 8th 1981. Mr. and Mrs. Emery Kery 90 years old church members are in The Leader Nursing Home. Mrs. John Szocsik is also in The Leader Nursing Home. Some of our church members are indisposed in their home. We are praying for them. On November 13th the Youth Fellowship had a meeting with the leadership of Mr. Balint Balogh chief elder. CARTERET, NJ. Dedications: American and Hungarian flags for Bethlen Hall were dedicated in the church on October 27. The American flag was donated by the Sendelsky and the Pokol family, the Hungarian flag by the Harsanyis. — A plaque was dedicated on November 2 commemorating the work of the late Frank Vérségi, Sr. in the beautification of the sanctuary. The Junior Women’s Guild conducted a highly successful bazaar on November 29-30. They had been preparing handmade articles for many months for this occasion. Anne Marie Fuller was chairlady, Judy Miller co-chairlady of the affairs; Ann Balka is the guild-president. Many women—and some men—shared the work enthusiastically and in splendid cooperation. Baptism: Justin William, firstborn son of Herbert William Castor II and his wife, Nora Beth Humiston, on November 2. Weddings: Brian Chizmadia and Donna Lakatos in St. James Roman Catholic Church of Red Bank, New Jersey on November 15; Pastor Dr. Harsanyi participated in this ecumenical wedding service. — Anthony Cun­­tala and Janice Nagy, on November 22 in the Carteret church. Funerals: Louis Toth, Sr., 80 years old, on October 24; Lajos Gálik, 90 years old, on November 5. DUQUESNE, PA. Thanksgiving Communion was observed on November 23rd, 117 members received the Holy Elements. 15. oldal Oar Annual Congregational Meeting elected the following officers for the year 1981: Frank Demes chief elder, Donald Koester ass. chief elder, Eileen Halpern secretary, Eileen Jenu­­levich treasurer. William Kennedy and Robert Szepesi are newly elected members of church council. The new officers and members of council will be sworn in, and taking office on the first Sunday of January 1981. Members of the Women's Club baked poppy seed and nut rolls in December. The good quality and modest price of the baked goods assured great success. Christmas Schedule: December 14th—Sun­day School Christmas Party. December 17th— Women’s Club Christmas Party. December 18th—Advent Communion followed by Church Council’s Meeting to close the business year. December 24th—Christmas Eve Candle­light Service at 7 p.m. December 25th— Christmas Day service with Holy Communion: Hungarian at 9:30 a.m., English at 11 a.m. December 31st—Watchnight Service at 7 p.m. Sunday School will continue to hold its ses­sions in January and February of 1981. McKeesport, pa. The church is still operating with an interim pastor until a permanent minister is elected. Rev. Robert Kennedy has been conducting Sunday services, serving communion and caring for major needs of the church. During November, we lost Mrs. Arpad Ne­meth a senior member of the church and Mrs. Julia Macik. They will be missed from our congregation. On Dec. 24th we will have our annual candlelight services with a program prepared by the Sunday School. On Christmas Day we will have morning services of worship. On Dec. 28th, Sunday our congregation will have a combined worship service with the service of our Dean. After the worship service our congregational meeting will decide on the election of our next minister. We look forward to the new year hopefully finding the pastor to fill our needs. We wish our member churches a blessed holiday season. PERTH AMBOY, NJ. With the arrival of Advent and Christmas upon us a spiritual expectation and joy has filled our hearts. In joyful preparations are we waiting for Christ to be born in our hearts. With the Spirit of Christmas have we gathered with the members of our church organizations to share fellowship with each others. On the first Sunday of December the Lord’s Table has been spread before us. In the administration of the elements our help came to us in Rev. László Ruzsnyai pastor in Hungary, presently studying in Princeton. In the afternoon our Annual Christmas Bazaar was held in the Church Center, special childrens bazaar was made by our Fellowship Circle. On december 21st at our english service our Choir’s "Christ­mas Cantata” was presented to the congre­gation with a theme of “Christmas Around the World". On this same afternoon the children of our Saturday and Sunday School extending and invitation to all our members and their friends, presented a Christmas program with the theme “A Night to Remember”.
