YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO During the past few month, our God helped us, to finish the last big repair work, planned for this year. The storm windows on the parish house were exchanged. We can see God’s blessing best, if we realize that all the repairs and improvements were done without asking for special donation or without taking a mortgage. The glory for all these belongs to God. On November 20th, the Eve of Thanksgiving Day, the five Hungarian churches in our city held an Ecumenical Church service. This service was held at the Hungarian United Presbyterian Church. After the service all those who have attended the service were the guests of the host church for refreshments. On Sunday, November 23rd, we held in our church the Annual Bethlen Home Sunday. The Rev. Paul Kovács, administrator of the Bethlen Home proclaimed the Word of God. The same Sunday the pastor of the church was substituting the Rt. Rev. Tibor Dömötör, Dean of the Western Classis. On Saturday, November 1st, Miss Maryann Kay Toth and Mrs. Michael A. Zetts were married in our church. Witnesses: James Zetts and Renee Nastoff. The blessing of God be upon the young couple. ROEBLING, NJ We proud to announce the birth of Erik Philip Vagen, the son of Kathleen and Erik Vagen, grandson of Bert Bartha, and greatgrandson of Emma Peter. On September 24, Megan Cherie Scott, the daughter of Michelle and Michael Scott, the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Varga, was baptized. Her godparents are Dr. Dorlinda Gfeller-Varga and Dr. Edward Gfeller, and Mr. and Mrs. Albert DeChristie. Our fund-raising activities have continued this year. The Women's Guild sponsored a sale of stuffed cabbage, and members of the congregation make and sell kolbász each month, as has been our custom. The participation and hard work of the people involved in these activities both increase our fellowship and keep our church financially sound. Sunday, November 23, a pot-luck dinner was held. It was well-attended and enjoyed by all. This year our church was host to the Florence Township Ministerium Thanksgiving Service. This was an ecumenical service held on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, in which most of the churches in Florence participated. The service itself was adapted from a Puritan service book of 1586, commenly called the “Middleburg Liturgy,” which would have been very similar to the worship services of the Pilgrims themselves. As a part of our Advent observance in our Sunday services, members of the Sunday School are reading aloud stories about Christmas customs in foreign lands. Our Sunday School Christmas Pageant will be Sunday, December 21, during morning worship. James Bajzath, Jennifer Bajzath, Ralph Cordero, Christopher Harkel, Karen Harkel, Michele Jacoby, Suzanne Jacoby, Cheryl Jacoby, Melanie Soltész, Sandra Somogyi, Christian Varga, and Tammy Varga are the participants. We will have the following services during the Christmas season: Christmas Eve, 7:30 p.m.; Christmas Day Communion, 10:15 a.m.; New Year's Eve, 7:30 p.m.; New Years Day, 10:15 a.m. With best holiday greetings to our brothers and sisters in Christ, Rev.
