László Pall assistant minister from Budapest, Hungary conducted the church services. He was studying at Princeton Seminary. On this day Rev. Louis J. Nagy was preaching in Dayton, Ohio at the 40th anniversary of Rev. Stephen Szőke. On Father’s Day, June 17, Mrs. John Fabian the president of our Ladies Aid Society presented a nice white handkerchief to every father as the gift of the Ladies Aid Society. On June 24th the pastor conducted a Hungarian communion service at the “Philadelphiai Magyar Tanya” where the Hungarian Girls- and Boys- Scouts had their gathering. A small group from our church attended under the leadership of Mr. Balint Balogh chief elder. Bethlen Home Sunday was held on the 15th of July when the Rev. Paul Kovács the administrator of the Bethlen Home gave us the message and greetings of the Home. His mother Mrs. Judit Nagy was our guest also. In the afternoon of J uly the 15th four members represented our church at the banquet in Trenton, New Jersey, honoring the Rev. Stephen Kovács on the occasion of the 40th year of his ordination. On J uly 22nd we held our semiannual congregational meeting. Our chief elder Mr. Balint Balogh and the pastor gave short reports. Income for the first half of the year was: $13,- 711.13; expenses were: $12,657.00. In the month of August the windows of our church were painted. In the afternoon of July 22nd under the leadership of our chief elder Mr. Balint Balogh our church members attended the “Bethlehem Hungarian Picnic” at the Klein Crove. For the New Bread Holy Communion service the elements were donated by Mr. Steve Turoczy and family. Donations were given toward the elements by Mr. and Mrs. Steve Toth and family, Rev. and Mrs. Louis J. Nagy, Mr. and Mrs. James Kovary, Mr. and Mrs. Gyula Aszli and Mr. Zoltán Kovács. Mrs. Steve Toth the wife of our treasurer and Mrs. Julia Kovács are back from Hungary where they visited relatives and friends. Miss Gyöngyi Dovoczky teacher from Yugoslavia is the guest of her aunt, the wife of our chief elder Mrs. Balint Balogh and her family. Many thanks to Mr. Frank Athis who installed the front- and back-door chimes at the parsonage. Mrs. Gyula Herczeg, Mr. Emery Kery and Mrs. Steve Toth, Mr. László Fekete and Mr. James Kovary were hospitalized recently. In August the Rev. Paul Ferenczy and his wife, who is the sister of Rev. Nagy visited us from Lakeland, Florida. We wish to express our thanks to Rev. Ferenczy for preaching the word of God at our church services. CARTERET, N. J. The Junior Women’s Guild had a busy program during May. For a Mother’s Day social an original skit was presented; written and directed by Marge Jensen it recalled the early 1920-s. A lot of art-work was created and designed by the Guild members. Members of the Lorantffy Society were honored guests. Marge Jensen and Kay Peter were co-chairladies. A home-made spaghetti supper drew many “customers” who called it “the best Hungarian spaghetti.” Helen Dodge and Marge Jensen were co-chairladies. Another successful Flea Market was conducted in Bethlen Hall. The Lorantffy ladies were not idle either: they had two meat sales with excellent results; help from Guild members and several men was greatly appreciated. During the absence of Pastor Harsanyi John Nemish preached his first sermon as a commissioned lay preacher; vice chief elder Béla Kántor conducted the Hungarian language service the same Sunday. The Rev. László Páll occupied the pulpit on the other three Sundays. The Rev. Páll, a minister from Hungary, received the degree of Master of Theology from Princeton Seminary. Mr. William Schurr was the supply organist. Carol Kovács, the president of our Christian Youth Fellowship, was this year’s co-salutatorian at Carteret High School. On May 27 the following three young people were confirmed: Kevin Joseph Brand, Sharron Dawn Palmer and Robin Lee Valentine. They shared holy communion with the congregation for the first time on Pentecost Sunday. Twenty-nine children received cross and crown pins at the Sunday School closing exercises. Teachers honored at this occasion were Robin Finn, Lisa Janvari, Denise Palmer, Lenny Sendelsky, Guy Sendelsky, Carol Kovács, Wendey Lazar, Mrs. Alice Kovács, Mrs. Irene Lukach (her 26th year of teaching) ; Mrs. Judy Miller is the superintendent. Baptisms: Alyssa Dawn, daughter of Donald Paul Tardiff and his wife, the former Mary Viola Milak on June 24. The baptism of Edward, Jr., son of Edward Fitzpatrick and his wife, the former Karen Lynn Papp is scheduled for July 22. Weddings: Michael Mesavitz and Gail Louise Comba (an ecumenical wedding service) on May 26; Herbert William Castor II and Nora Beth Humiston on June 16. Burials: Mrs. Susan Demeter Bodnar 82, on June 6; Alexander Guyre (Gyiire), 62, on March 31. DUQUESNE, PA. On Pentecost Sunday 105 members of our congregation received the Lord’s Supper. Our Memorial Sunday Service in the cemetery had *to be delayed twice on account of bad weather. This was the first time we had to delay this service in many years. June 24th was Laymen’s Sunday. This being the Pastor’s vacation, the Hungarian Service was led by Alex Wargo honorary elder (sermon) and John Darnay, former chief elder of the congregation (scripture and prayer). The English Service was held by the participation of the following members of church council and the congregation: Susan Wargo council woman (the sermon), Robert Szepesi, former chief elder (pastoral prayer) and chief elder Frank Demes the rest of the liturgy. We are grateful for the willingness of these lay people to witness and serve! July 1st was our Bethlen Home Sunday. The Rev. Paul Kovács, Administrator of the Bethlen Home was our guest minister. Rev. Kovács is a wellknown and liked clergyman in our congregation. We are grateful for his service. Baptism: June 18th (Monday) we received Matthew John, a son of Gary
