MAGYAR EGYHÁZ IS NEWS FROM THE CONGREGATIONS AKRON, OHIO During the Easter season 183 person participated in the holy communion in our church, 22 in our Lorántffy Care Care Center and 15 in their homes. During the month of April we paid 20,000 dollars as a down payment for the two acres land what we bought for our church. The remaining amount will be paid in monthly installments during the next two years. The next holy communion service, because of the Holy Land trip of our minister, will be on Holy Trinity Sunday instead of Pentecost Sunday. During the last two months the following persons donated a 1,000 dollars to the Lorántffy Care Center: Miklós Juhász, Mr. and Mrs. Jenő Szedenits, Erzsébet Hamar, Mrs. Anna Sala, Lajos Gáli, Anna Syertina, Dr. Alexandra Skolnyk, Mrs. Agnes Kubicza, Mrs. Anna Sabaka, Mrs. Mary Bortnyik, Mr. and Mrs. László Havas and István Lukács. May God bless the donors and donations. The Nominating Committee of the Western Classis held a meeting in our Fellowship Hall on May 6th, Sunday. Ministerial and lay representatives from our Allen Park, Duquesne, McKeesport, Youngstown and Toronto churches were present and discussed the upcoming elections of the Classis. The Rev. The Christian Youth Fellowship members voted to participate in the annual youth camp conference near Ligonier, Pa., August 19-25. They plan to have car washes, bake sales and other fund raising projects to help defray the cost. The Council of Churches of Allen Park sponsored a “Hymn Sing” in Grace Reformed Church on Sunday, May 6th. Many of our members participated. On May 13th, Mother’s Day some of our members attended the Mother’s Day dinner of our sister church in Windsor, Canada. The members of the Dorcas Guild paid tribute to the members of our Ladies Aid Society during their May 15th meeting as a special “tribute to mothers”. The Men’s Club presented carnations to all women and mothers of the church on Mother’s Day. The Sunday School children remembered mothers and presented a pot of geraniums to every mother who attended Sunday School. The Spring Bazaar and Bake Sale of the Ladies Aid May 15-18 was an overwhelming success. Thanks to all, who helped. Delegates from our church attended the farewell banquet of the Rev. and Mrs. Andrew Harto, pastor of our neighbor church in Toledo, Ohio. They will retire June 1st. The Hawaiian Luau by the Martha Circle was successful and enjoyed by all who attended. Graduation Sunday will be observed on Sunday, June 10th, when children and youth will participate in the service. The following children were confirmed: Steven A. Balogh, Lisa D. Corps, Elizabeth A. Hörcsik, Steven L. Kalmár, Katalin S. Kulcsár, Victoria H. Parker, Carl Lőke, Andrew J. Szabó, Dan Tarkányi, Kristin K. Vig, Bryan D. Younglove, Wendy L. Younglove, Cheryl L. Willingham. Smoyer and Elizabeth Nagy Smoyer. Godparents: Jerry Stewart and Anna Maria Nagy Stewart, Washington, Pa. Also baptised were Cassandra Ann and Timothy James the daughter and son of Marvin L. Smoyer and Barbara Allen. Godparents: Jolán Vilma Nagy, Ligonier, Pa. and Louis L. Nagy Jr., Somerset, Pa. Mrs. Joseph Haszonics died on April 15, at the age of 97. Her funeral was on April 18. She was bom in Győr, Hungary. On June 1st holy communion will be served to the shut-ins. June 2nd at 7:00 P.M. preparatory service. June 3rd is Pentecost. Worship service with holy communion at 10:30 A.M. The holy elements will be donated by Mr. and Mrs. John Mihály. CARTERET, N. J. Holy Week and Easter worship services were very well attended this year; also more people shared the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper than last year. Only the congregation on Saturday was quite small. The conversion of the heating system in Bethlen Hall from oil to gas has been completed. The next step, next month’s project, is to air-condition the Hall. Funerals: Mrs. Stephen Farkas, the former Elizabeth Kazmer, 69 years old, on March 20; she and her family were members of the Carteret church for 40 years. — Mrs. Joseph Sebők, the former Ilona Mikó, 62 years old, on April 6. — Joseph Comba, 69 years old, on April 20. Born in Carteret, he grew up in this church with his sister and seven brothers. Joseph Comba was the principal of Nathan Hale Junior High School since 1951 and active in a number of community affairs. In the absence of Dr. Harsanyi, the Rev. Andrew Hamza officiated at the funeral. DUQUESNE, PA. Our Annual Memorial Sunday Service in the cemetery will be held on May 27th, weather permitting at 3 p.m. Gravestone dedications will be observed at this service. The Women’s Club is hosting a tea to honor our graduates on June 3rd, Pentecost Sunday, after the worship services.
