12 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ JOHN NEMISH — COMMISSIONED LAY PREACHER Last year’s General Assembly approved a recommendation concerning the training and commissioning of laymen for the service of “lay preachers.” At the same time Dr. Sándor Kiss and Chief Elder John Nemish were designated as the first two candidates. After having been prepared for eight months and on March 9, 1979 duly examined by a special committee appointed by the Bishop, Elder John Nemish will receive his commission as the first officially licensed lay preacher of our church at a worship service in the Carteret church on Sunday, March 25. We congratulate Elder Nemish on this occasion for his perseverance and for his dedication. May the Lord richly bless his services in this new area. And may others follow his example. YOUTH CAMP IN 1979 The Bethlen Youth Federation of our church has experienced some difficulties during the past few years. The camp conferences which were popular in the 1950-s and 1960-s did not draw the young people together in the 70-s. In 1975 the camp conference attendance arranged by the Allen Park youth club was low and in 1976 when the Perth Amboy church accepted to host it, the camp had to be cancelled by the young people of Perth Amboy because of “lack of registrations.” In 1977 the conference was held in the Allen Park church not in a camp as previously, but using the facilities of the church. The attendance was lower than ever before and some serious problems arose, whereby the Bishop’s Council decided to “reorganize” the B.Y.F. Letters were sent to the officers asking them to submit their books, records, etc., to the Bishop’s Council, until now they have not complied with this request. In order to move into the right direction the 1979 YOUTH CAMP will be held in Ligonier, Pa., from August 19 - 26th, together with the young people of the Calvin Synod, where one of the finest camps has been reserved. The camp is the PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH CAMP, Route 711 North, Ligonier, Pa. The church leaders of both denominations request the cooperation of the ministers and youth advisors so that the number of registrations should be sufficient to have the camp this year! More detailed information will be mailed to every church and youth group soon. IN LOVING MEMORY OF DR.
