12 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ NEWS FROM THE CONGREGATIONS AKRON, OHIO Our musical church picnic was the greatest and most successful during the history of our church. Our clear in­come was over 3,500 dollars. We are very thankful to everyone who helped us to have a successful picnic. Mr. and Mrs. József Kovács donated 1,000 dollars for the construction of the new wing of the LORANTFFY CARE CENTER. May God bless richly our church members. David De Marco and Rebecca Mik­lós were married in our church in July. Witnesses were Susan Hoffman and Brent De Marco. On August 4th we buried from our church Mrs. Frank Varga, who was the mother of our beloved Chief Elder, Edward Vargo. The National Youth Conference was held this year in the Allen Park, Mich., church during the Labor Day weekend. A more detailed report will be found elsewhere in this paper. The parking area of our church re­ceived a new protective seal-coating: the following men worked: Charles Boné, Andrew Hövizi, Daniel Balogh, Joseph Kovács (Miller Street), Louis Orosz, Joseph Vári, Alex Szénás, An­drew Gayer, Frank Orbán, Bert Lo­vász, Peter Jánváry. Volunteers who cut the grass, trim the shrubs and beautify the church grounds every week during the summer include: Charles Köteles, Elmer Erdig, Joseph Kovács (Miller Street), Louis Orosz, Daniel Balogh and Alex Szénás; thanks and appreciation for their faith­ful service. Those who attended the Presbyter’s Conference in Ligonier, Pa., were: Mr. and Mrs. Ed Vig, Mr. Andrew Faragó, Mr. Charles Boné, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Lovász, Mrs. Joseph Major, Mrs. Therese Smale, Mrs. S. September events: 11 — Chinese Auction sponsored by the Junior Women’s Guild; 18 — Carteret Festi­val with the Lorantffy Society’s par­ticipation; 18 — resumption of regular Sunday School sessions; also, all other organizations of the church will have resumed their regular activities. The date of the annual dinner is October 29, Saturday. The Youth Fellowship had two well attended summer picnics, one at the 'Sendelskys and another at the Har­­sanyis. Funerals: Paul Gaydos, Sr., 82, on July 8; Frank Sohayda, 71, on August 29. DUQUESNE, PA. Harvest-Home Communion was cele­brated on August 7th. 109 members of our congregation received the Holy elements. Weddings: on August 6th John Dar­­nay and Susan Gerhart entered into matrimony in our church. On August 20th Robert Hite and Sandra Bonacci were married in our church. Our vacation bible school was held August 8-12th. Baptism: Jaimy Lynn, the daughter of Richard R. Ross and his wife, the former Deborah A. Cheke was baptized on September 4th. Godparents are Robert Ross and Susan Cheke. Sunday School Rally Day was Sep­tember 11. The first session of confirmation class was held on September 17th. McKeesport, pa. Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Fazekas cele­brated their 65th Wedding Anniversary in August. They are the oldest married couple in our congregation. The Women’s Guild’s participation in this year’s International Village was most successful. Clear profit including donations by the members of the church surpassed $5,700.00. Mixed Bowling league will start in September. At this time there are 30 members who registered. Bethlen Home Sunday was on August 14. Our guest minister Rev. Paul Ko­vács, Ligonier, gave the sermon both in English and Hungarian. Congregational Picnic was held on August 21 sponsored by the Sunday School with Mrs. Norma Jordanhazy as chairwoman. We had a successful Summer Bible School in July from 18 to 22. The Sunday School will resume its regular schedule on September 11 and the Confirmation Classes on September 17. Funerals: Mrs. Sándor Banyacsky 70, July 11; Mr. John Vozar 67, July 19; Mr. István Földi 92, August 26, Gary, Indiana. He was an honorary presbiter of our congregation. PERTH AMBOY, N. J. With the passing and with the coming of years, it seems as if our lives always have a new beginning.— But looking at the life of the church in an individual congregation, it feels as if it has two beginnings every year. One which seems to have its start at the beginning of the new year, and the other, after the summer months with the coming of September. I know this is how other congregations might feel,
