MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 13 since in September the individual organizations begin anew their meetings and make plans for the rest of the year. We too, have made our steps in the month of September, to reenact our Church Activities. The Pastor and his family were away from the congregation in August, visiting the other states and wonders of this great America. During his absence, Divine Worship services in the congregation were led by the following: On August 14, the congregation was served by the Rt. Rev. Louis Nagy, Administrator of the Bethlen Home, who is always a greatly welcomed visitor in our midst. On August 21, the Word of God was brought by the Rev. Elizabeth Nitsch, who just recently finished her seminary studies in Bangor, Maine. On August 28, at the English Worship Service, the word of God was preached by Mr. Dave Hillman, representative of the Gideon International, in our vicinity. The Hungarian Worship Service was led by the Rev. Dr. Nicholas Nyári, retired pastor of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Staten Island, N. Y. We are grateful to our three guests for serving in our congregation. Arriving from his vacation, the Pastor took over the leadership and together with the elected elders of the congregation, led the membership on the paths of the Master. On the first Sunday of the month we observed Holy Communion according to our tradition. The Rev. Dr. Nicholas Nyári helped us with his services. Our Pastor attended the ministerial conference held in Ligonier, Pa. during the Labor Day weekend, and some of our Youth Fellowship members attended the Bethlen Youth Conference held by the Allen Park youth in Michigan. From our statistics. Baptism: On August 14 we accepted into the fellowship of believers, David Stephen Schlatter, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Schlatter. — Funeral: Mrs. Antal Izsó. Funeral was officiated by the Rev. Dr. Zoltán Béky. May God comfort the bereaved family. ROEBLING, N. J. Our congregation contributed $86.52 to the special fund for the rebuilding of the damaged Hungarian Reformed Churches in Transylvania. A candidate to fill the upcoming vacancy in the pulpit of our church delivered a trial sermon on July 31st. The candidate was Rev. Debra Johnson, a graduate of Connecticut College and Yale Divinity School. At the congregational meeting on Sunday, August 7, the congregation voted to issue a call to Rev. Johnson. §he will begin her duties the 1st Sunday of September. We look forward to her arrival and the special contributions that she will add to the church, particularly in her special area of interest, Christian education. On Monday, August 8, fourteen of our Sunday School children were treated by the Women’s Guild-Lorantffy to an evening at Great Adventure. Everyone had a marvelous time and we thank the women for the special time. There was a preparatory service on Saturday, August 13. The New Bread Communion Service was celebrated on Sunday, August 14. Following the service there was a pot luck lunch with time to say farewell to Rev. Patch, who has accepted a call to serve Grace United Church of Christ in River Grove, Illinois. Rev. Patch and his wife, Dorothy, wish to express their appreciation to all the members of the congregation for their love and friendship. It has been a wonderful experience to learn something about the Hungarian traditions and culture and the unique story of many of the Hungarians in America. We have shared some important moments in our lives as a family with our church family in Roebling and we will remember you always with love and affection. TRENTON, N. J. Baptisms.
