In the beginning of this year, as we experience the grace of God being renewed upon us again, it would do us good if we would take a close look at the past, and to recall to mind that which we have done well so that we may continue in them; and that which we have done wrong, so that we may learn from them as we travel the road of life in this new year. Our church life continued during the Holydays in a celebrative mood. We participated in many activities, mostly with those same faithful members who are the foundation of our church, keeping in mind that only 20% of our total church membership lives in the City of Perth Amboy, where the environment is changing rapidly. Knowing this we must make allowances, but nevertheless not excuses, for the lack of interest on the part of our membership, when we engage in a church function. It is, however with thanksgiving that we must bow before the Lord, that He granted us the strength and opportunities to carry through with our church activities in p satisfying manner. Our church services during the past year continued as usual. Participation in the Holy Communion was a satisfying one also, and the financial contribution toward the church was the same. In the last part of our report you will be able to read our vital statistics, which will give you an idea of the physical growth or decline of our church membership. However, before we get to that part, we would like to recall some of our more outstanding activities and special moments during the month of December. During the holidays the Christmas tree decorating our church was donated by Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Racz Jr. and decorated by our Christian Youth Fellowship. Flowers were given by the Congregation and by the courtesy of the Vollman Flower Shop. The evergreen Christmas wreath was given by Mr. and Mrs. Steve Vollman. We appreciate all these kind expressions of love toward our church and wish to acknowledge and thank all those who donated gifts at Christmas. Our Church attendance this Christmas was below the number of last year. On New Year’s Eve our church sponsored a New Year’s Eve celebration which was not as successful as we thought due to the low attendance. But those present welcomed the New Year very happily and in style! We would like to acknowledge the hard work of the committee in charge of the New Year’s Eve celebration. With the arrival of this New Year of 1976 our activities around the church have been renewed. Our Hungarian Embroidery Class led by Mrs. Yolanda Benga started their evening classes anew. Our Senior Women’s Club did not wait too long either to start the making of our favorite handmade Hungarian noodles. Our Sunday School and Confirmation Classes renewed their studies. The meetings and plannings within the Women’s Guild, Senior Women’s Club and Christian Youth Fellowship all started. Our Board of Elders also set the date for the Annual Congregational Meeting; the first call is for Sunday, January 18. In case of insufficient attendance, the meeting will be held on Sunday, January 25. Vital Statistics from the year 1975: Accepted into the fellowship of believers through the sacrament of Baptism were seven children. May our God be the Good Shepherd above the children and their parents. In the sight of God and the congregation seven couples have promised faithfulness to each other. May they continue their united lives together in the steps of Him who said “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life”. The most painful and heartbreaking report is of those who have departed
