Joseph Cardinal Mindszenty the living martyr of Hungarian Christianity will visit the Lorantffy Care Center on May 31-st, Friday afternoon at 5:30 p. m. At 6:00 p. m. he will participate with the minister of our church in the ecumenical worship service. After the worship service our church leaders and members will greet the distinguished guest. Eastertide worship services were very well attended. The number of those who participated in the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday night and Easter Sun­day morning was larger than last year; donations surpassed expectations. “Bethlen Home Sunday” was ob­served on April 28. The Rt. Rev. Louis Nagy, Superintendent of the Home preached in English, the sermon in Hungarian was delivered by the Rev. Béla Szabó who will soon take charge of the church in Phoenix, Arizona. On the same Sunday Pastor Dr. Harsanyi preached in Munich, Germany, at the anniversary convocation of the Hun­garian Association of the Knights Hos­pitallers of St. John of Jerusalem; Dr. Harsanyi is chaplain of the Order. During the Easter Season 250 mem­bers of the congregation received Holy Communion in the sanctuary or in their homes. Our congregation celebrated its 20th year in the present building on April 28th. The Right Rev. Dezső Abraham was our guest preacher, and the Very Rev. Tibor Dömötör, dean of the West­ern Classis, the Rev. Kálmán Adorján, and clergy of the Hungarian Reformed, Lutheran and Roman Catholic churches of the Pittsburgh area also participated in the liturgy. The worship service was followed by a banquet, and a light pro­gram provided by members of our or­ganizations. The Right Rev. dr. Zoltán Béky, president of the Hungarian Re­formed Federation of America greeted the congregation in a telegram, and the Rev. Stephen Szőke, our pastor during the building of these buildings sent a message on a tape. Numerically and financially the celebration was a total success. Baptism: On May 19th we baptized Wendy Lynn, daughter of Andrew Pec­­let and his wife, the former Sandy Gizzi. Godparents were Mr. and Mrs. Fred­rick Hildebrand. May 26th two boys and two girls were confirmed during the morning worship service: Jeffrey Gwynn, William Sabo, Marsha Gougler and Janet Seman. In the afternoon at 3 p.m. we held our annual worship service in our cemetery, a memorial service. McKeesport, pa. The installation of Rev. Kalman A. Gondocz on April 21 was officiated by the Rev. Kalman Adorján. Guest speak­ers were Rt. Rev. Louis Nagy in Hun­garian, and Rev. Dr. András Harsanyi in English. The other ministers who participated in the service were Rev. Denes Tamas, Weston, W. Va.; Rev. Zoltán Kovács, Homestead; Rev. Dr. László Berzeviczy, McKeesport; Rev. Dr. George Csia, Pittsburgh; Rev. Louis Illés, Duquesne; Rev. Sándor Mészáros, Pittsburgh. At the banquet that followed the in­stallation service, Rt. Rev. Louis Nagy served as toastmaster. The main speak­ers of the evening were Rev. Dr. András Harsanyi and the Hon. John E. Priba­­nic, mayor of McKeesport. On April 28 at the celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Duquesne Hun­garian Reformed Church in their pre­sent church building our congregation was represented by the minister and his wife, the chief-elder, vice-chief elder and other members of the church. The Annual Spring Women’s Con­ference of the Hungarian Reformed Churches of Western Pennsylvania held on May 5 was a great success. Our church was the host to the conference. The Homestead, Duquesne, Springdale, Johnstown and Rankin Hungarian Re­formed Churches together with our church participated in the conference. It was the first time that the churches belonging to the Calvin Synod and the Free Hungarian Church joined together officially in one united organization. The proceeds of the conference (about $300.00) were donated to the Hunga­rian Reformed Radio Program. The expenses of the delicious dinner by the Women’s Guild was paid from its own treasury. The guest speaker was Mrs. Albert Sieben. She was accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Roy Barns. We had a wonderful Mother’s Day celebration on May 12. During a com­bined worship service the children of the Sunday School presented a nice program to the mothers. White and red carnations were distributed to the ladies. At 12 noon after the worship service a Mother’s Day Dinner was waiting for the congregation prepared and served by the men. They earned many com­pliments. Funeral: Stephen Cetto died on May 3 and was buried on May 6 in Smith­­ton, Pa. He was a faithful member of our church.
