Every year there is a time in most of the churches when the members of the congregation gather for an account — which is called the congregational meeting. Our church had its congregational meeting on the last Saturday of January 24. Even if not many of our church members showed up for the meeting, the gathering proved to be successful. The church elected its new leaders of our congregation for the year 1974, which are the following. Chief Elder Mr. Steve Varga of Bordentown, Vice- Chief Elder Mr. Bert Bartha, Treasurer Mr. Joseph Bartha, Secretaries: English Mr. Allen Birkholz, Hungarian Mr. John Kollár. During the congregational meeting, among other things discussed, the subject of the 60th Anniversary of our church and its celebration upcoming in 1975 was brought up. The meeting decided to form an Anniversary Committee. Also concerning the 60th Anniversary an Anniversary Fund was set up, in a way that every month a special envelope will be given out to our members in which they could place their donations toward the Anniversary celebration. The Congregational Meeting acted upon the salaries of those employed by the church. Our organists received a raise from $4.00 to $5.00 per service. Our church custodian’s salary was raised by $50.00 for a year. The pastor of the congregation was presented with a $100.00 per month raise for the year of 1974. The newly elected officers were installed in our Church on February 10, whom we will honor along with the Sandors and Josephs at our Annual Dinner to be held on February 24, Sunday following the church services. The work of our Youth Fellowship is improving, which is important, since the upcoming Bethlen Youth Federation Conference will be sponsored by our group.
