The Easter holidays in our midst were a very joyous one as was evidenced by the fact that our small Church was filled to its capacity with a crowd honoring our Risen Lord and Saviour. According to our statistics, this was the largest Easter Day attendance in many years. There were 114 persons in attendance at the English Worship Service, and 30 during the Hungarian Service, while a total of 98 participated in Holy Communion. Also, there were a total of 8 worship services held during the Easter Holy Days, which were all well attended. The holidays have passed; we have returned to our normal living pattern, and our Church is once again filled with many empty pews because of “empty spirits” and nominal “Sunday” Christians. With the summer months soon upon us, we will lose another one-fourth of our members to the beaches and summer homes. But, we are still in the spring and even all of nature speaks of LIFE and GROWTH. On the first Sunday of May, following our worship services, we participated in a conference of the Church Women United, sponsored this year by our Trenton sister church. Rev. and Mrs. Susan Torok were the speakers, investigating the subject of “The Mystery of Death.” In addition to the pastor and his wife, 15 women from our congregation took part in this activity. The second Sunday in May, as we all know, is set aside to honor dear mothers all over the country. The men of our congregation, also, showed their love and respect by honoring the women with a “Mother’s Day Dinner” in our Church Hall. The day proved to be a happy occasion for all, which was further heightened by short programs by the Sunday School children and the Youth Fellowship members who sang and recited poetry. Our Lorantffy Zsuzsanna Noegylet has also been busy. They have recently purchased a “kneading machine” for use in noodle and donut making. May God continue to richly bless all our women who so faithfully serve our Church. It should also be mentioned that our Women’s Guild and Lorantffy Guild purchased new chairs for use in our Church Hall. Despite all the work, we are also having our fun activities. Our Lorantffy Guild members are sponsoring a trip on July 21 to the Pennsylvania Dutch country. Furthermore, our Florence Township is making plans for its 100th Anniversary Celebration beginning on June 30, in which our Hungarian Church is actively involved. We will be participating in a “Heritage Day” and Community Worship Services. May God give us His blessings and necessary strength and wisdom to realize all our plans.
