MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 11 NEWS FROM THE CONGREGATIONS AKRON, OHIO Our Easter Holiday Worship schedule is as follows: Good Friday, April 20, 7 P.M. combined worship service. Easter Sunday, April 22, 9:30 A.M. Hungarian Holy Communion service, 11 A.M. English Holy Communion service. Easter Monday: Holy Communion for sick members. During the last two months we re­ceived more than 10,000 dollars dona­tions for the Lorantffy Care Center. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Druga donated 1.000 dollars, Mrs. Sándor Kiss donated 1.000 dollars in loving memory of her husband Sándor Kiss, another faithful church member donated 1,000 dollars. May God bless the donors, the dona­tions and our new Home. Funeral: Elizabeth Alföldy, 81 on April 10th. May God comfort her loved ones. ALLEN PARK, MICH. Easter holiday services were well at­tended. The worshippers participated in the Lord’s Supper on Easter Sunday at services in English and Hungarian. Or­ganizational donations helped swell the offering. Our Pastor preached and Mrs. Ru­dolph Mathia of our congregation ren­dered a solo at the Good Friday service sponsored by the Allen Park Council of Churches. The Dorcas Guild noted that sales of its cook book are aproaching the 10.000 mark. To our knowledge only the Elyria, Ohio Churchwomen have published a cook book with greater public acceptance. New members include Mr. and Mrs. Edward Latwinski and Mrs. Diana Marth Coffee. Fourteen young people were confirmed on Palm Sunday and received into communicant membership. Jennifer Julie Szatmári, daughter of Stephen and Darlene Szatmári, was bap­tized on April 8. Godparents are Steve Palfalvi and Franciiie Nemeth. James G. Hoover and Karen Ruth Gassman were united in marriage on April 28. Witnesses were John O. Hoo­ver and Judy F. Bockstanz. William Asztalos died at the age of 73 on March 13. Joseph Lorincz, a member of the Church Council, died at the age of 75 on March 20. Our con­dolences to the bereaved families. Activities scheduled for the month of May include the Annual Family Dinner of the Golden Circle, honoring mothers on Tuesday, May 8, the Hawaiian Luau of the Young Adults on Saturday, May 12, and the Ladies Aid Spring Bazaar will be held on May 17, 18 and 20. The usual informal atmosphere char­acterized the well attended “Installa­tion Dinner” in honor of the elders and officers of the church. Among those who conveyed greetings to them was Michael Toth, Mayor of the Borough of Carteret. Holy Communion was shared by the congregation on the first Sunday in Lent. The order of Holy Week and Easter worship services was sent out to all church families and friends in the cus­tomary pastoral letter. The communion service on Holy Thursday evening will again be conducted bilingually fol­lowing a bulletin which will show the complete liturgy on parallel columns in English and in Hungarian. The formation of a Couples Club is in the planning stage. For the 70th anniversary of the church we are trying to reach also mem­bers of families of the charter members who had moved out of town. Any in­formation in this matter will be greatly appreciated by the church council. Funerals: Mrs. Béla Kántor (Berta Kovács), wife of our vice-chief elder, was buried on March 21. The burial of Mrs. Joseph Sebők, Sr. (Eszter Antal), 98, was on April 4. “Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.” Chief Elder Leonard Sendelsky was elected president of the New Jersey Builders Association. Congratulations. DUQUESNE, PA. Funeral: Andrew Simcsak, on March 27th. The president of our Women’s Club moved to Connecticut with her family. Mrs. Mildred Sabo became the new president of the Club, and Mrs. Sharon Nagy was elected to be the new vice­­president. During the Lenten Season we held vesper services on Wednesday nights. The last service will be held on April 18th, when a religious movie will be shown on the passion and crucifixion of Christ. The movie is sponsored by the Women’s Club. On April 29th our church will join the other area churches in holding a women’s conference in Ligonier, in the Bethlen Home. Easter Season worship service sche­dule: Holy Week, Wednesday 7:30 p.m. vesper service, Maundy Thursday 7:00 p.m. communion service, Good Friday 12 noon-3 p.m. union service in the com­munity, 7:30 p.m. - Easter Sunday 9:30 a.m. Hungarian Service with com­munion, 11 a.m. English Service with communion - Easter Monday 11a.m. Hungarian Service. From our annual report: Total in­come in 1972 was $98,161.32 and total expenses were $85,038.27. The giving of our members toward our Building Fund was $43,994.00. At the present time our mortgage with the Hungarian Reformed Federation is $170,000.00. The following elders were elected for the following three years: Mr. James Balogh, Mr. Gabor Balogh, Mr. Daniel Caiarelli, Mr. Alex Fazekas, Mr. Louis Jardanhazy, Mr. William Jardanhazy, Mr. Ernest Segady. Marriage: George R. Jones and Susan L. Harkett, on March 24. Susan is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Blair Har­kett. Mr. Harkett is our attorney. On April 1, ten of our members at­tended the Laymen’s Conference spon­sored for members of the Hungarian Reformed Churches of Pittsburgh and Vicinity. On March 25, the Rev.
