This past month will be a memorable one in the life of our Congregation. On April 9, the surrounding Hungarian Reformed people started toward Roebling to be present at the ordination of the Rev. Stefan Török and his installation as full-time minister of the Roebling Congregation. The service started at 4 p.m. which was so well attended, that our small church’s seating capacity was not enough to accommodate everyone. There were at least 40 people seated downstairs in our Church Hall participating in the service through the use of loudspeakers. The Rt. Rev. Dezső Ábrahám, Bishop of the Hungarian Reformed Church of America delivered the sermon. The presentation and vows were given by the Rt. Rev. Stephen Kovács, which was then proceeded by the ordination ceremony. The installation of the newly ordained minister by the Very Rev. Dr. Andrew Harsanyi, Dean of the Eastern Classis. Dean Harsanyi then presented Rev. Török with the symbolic books of our church, along with the stamp of the Hungarian Reformed Church of America. After the installation the newly ordained and installed minister gave his sermon using I Timothy 1:12 as his text. Participating in the latter part of the service was the Rev. László Hunyady, pastor of the Linden church, as well as Mrs. Rose Takach, soloist and our Youth Choir. Following the ordination and installation a delicious banquet was held at the St. Mary’s Greek Catholic Church Hall, which was attended by 225 guests. STATEN ISLAND, N. Y. The Palm Sunday services were heartwarming because the Sunday School children performed timely chants. Mrs. Helen Peterson, Sunday School teacher, prepared with great enthusiasm for this Holy week. Mrs. Alice Rodvansky, the president of the Women’s Cuild, and Miss Carolyn Kosa, adviser of the Young People’s Club, sang inspiring duets for the Holy days, Good Friday and Easter. The beautiful flowers and traditional palm leaves were donated by Carolyn Kosa and a generous florist. The Young People’s Club encouraged by the success of the last spaghetti dinner, decided to arrange a special Chinese auction May 5. Mother’s Day will be celebrated with the childrens’ songs. Following the united services will be a dinner honoring all mothers on Sunday, May 14. The Women’s Guild is in charge of the affair. Deceased: Mrs. Stephen Gerek at age 86. She was one of our founding members. On the family request, relatives, friends and mourners donated close to $400 in lieu of flowers toward our church. A lasting memorial is planned by Church Council. There is a plan to make a special collection for the repair works due to the windstorm damages on the church steeple. We call all our faithful members to donate for this very urgent restoration job. TRENTON, N. J. During the Easter holiday season altogether 485 persons attended the Table of the Lord.
