CARTERET, N. J. We had a beautiful Easter—festive congregations and generous offerings. Spiritual growth is a gift of God and cannot be measured by outward signs; yet, we feel, it will be manifested in the life of our fellowship. The Rev. Dr. György Szőnyi (from Diósgyőr, Hungary, now a research fellow at Princeton Seminary) was our guest on Holy Thursday and Good Friday preaching in Hungarian and in English. The 50th anniversary celebration of the Lorantfy Society had to be rescheduled. The final date is Sunday, June 4. Our Youth Fellowship attended a Youth Rally Day in Homestead. This Rally Day was also attended by the youth groups of all neighboring Hungarian Reformed Churches of our denomination and the Calvin Synod. The Rally Day was a big success and for the time being two similar occasions are planned each year. The youth also decided to take advantage of the offer of the Hungarian Protestant Ministerial Association of Pittsburgh, and broadcast an English youth service on WEDO 810 AM, a McKeesport CBS station, on May 14. This will be a “first” in our area, and it will help the youth of both denominations understand each other better, and work together. At the present plans are being made to bring the leaders of both denominations, clergy and youth, together for a discussion on possible cooperation between youth groups on a national level. This will take place in the near future, and Bethlen Home invited us to hold our meetings there. Our own youth, representatives of the BYF will also meet with our ministers in Ligonier, on a denominational level. Both occasions will serve to build a much needed bridge over the generation- and denominational gap.
