10 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ NEWS FROM THE CONGREGATIONS AKRON, OHIO Baptisms: James Scott Bishop, the son of Ted and Linda Bishop on Sept. 12. Godparents are: Craig and Susan Hoffman. Dana Marie Wells, the daughter of Danny and Betty Ann Wells on Oct. 3rd. Godparents are: William and Barbara Balogh. May God bless richly the newly baptized and their loved ones. Marriages: On Aug. 28, Donald Hol­land and Christie Binkley were mar­ried in our church. Witnesses were Dennis Gearhart and Ralph Detzel. On Oct. 2nd Alex James Patonai and Nancy June Mealy were married in our church. Witnesses were Judy E. Max­well and János Sunyecz. May God bless the newlyweds! Funerals'. We buried Bálint Kovács, 87, from our church on Sept. 7, and Mrs. Béla Takács, 88 from the Kertesz Funeral Home on Oct. 5th. May their memory be blessed among us. During the month of October we will repaint our Fellowship Hall and the service rooms. The cost of the job will be around 700 dollars. The Dorcas Guild will publish the second edition of our successful Hun­garian Cook Book in English. Richard Apáti had a serious auto ac­cident during the month of September, but he is recovering rapidly in his home, after a long hospital stay. On the Freedom Banquet of the Hun­garian Home our minister will be the Hungarian speaker and our council­man Hugo Pfahler the English speaker, on October 24th, Sunday. The date of our annual bazaar is: November 20, Saturday. BETHLEHEM, PA. We returned to our regular schedule: Sunday School at 9 o’clock, English service at 9:45, Hungarian service at 10:30. The installation of our new minister will be on november 7th. The members decided to buy new rugs for the church, the cost is $2,500. CARTERET, N. J. Activities in the various church or­ganizations resumed in September. En­rollment in Sunday School is higher than last year; the two confirmation classes will have 16 students. Fine leadership and cooperation of many brought outstanding success to the Junior Women Guild’s Chinese Auction. The proceeds will enable them to undertake various renovation and furnishing projects. The Lorantfy So­ciety’s fall project is the complete in­side renovation of the first floor of the manse. About 100 people celebrated holy communion in August; the same num­ber in October. A good number of church members used the “Recovery Envelopes” in Sep­tember and in October to make up their donations for the Sundays they had been absent during the Summer. Weddings • Márton Horváth and Ilona Karakó, September 18; Robert Stephen Balog and Clara Magdolna Kantor, September 26; Stephen Richard John Kopin and Nancy Breza, October 1. -— Dr. Zsolt Harsanyi, son of Pastor and Mrs. Andrew Harsanyi, and Bennie Etta Jordan (Baytown, Texas) were married in the “Nagytemplom” in Deb­recen, Hungary on August 23. Bishop Dr. Tibor Bartha and Dr. Andrew Har­sanyi officiated at the bilingual cele­bration; the Rev. Imre Bertalan (New Brunswick, N. J.) sang the CL. Psalm. The Rev. Andrew Hamza supplied the pulpit during the pastor’s absence; Mrs. Elsie Loke was substitute organist. Many thanks for their services. DETROIT-ALLEN PARK, MICHIGAN Our newly elected Pastor, the Rev. Charles A. Darocy began his service here on September 1. The Installation will take place on Sunday, November 21, during a combined English and Hungarian language service at 10:30 a.m. This will be followed by a Dinner in the social hall at 12:30 p.m. The Ladies Aid Society, led by Mrs. George Kovács, will prepare the dinner. Sunday School classes were resumed on Sept. 12. There are twelve classes staffed by trained teachers. Mr. Ernest Kaplar, Director of Religious Educa­tion, serves as Superintendent of the Church School. All organizations have begun their usual active programs. Many nem mem­bers have joined these groups and we look forward to a busy and spiritually fruitful season. Sunday School meets at 8:45, Eng­lish language worship service is at 9:45, Hungarian language worship service is at 11. Attendance has been extremely good at all services and activities. October 3rd was the date for World- Wide Communion in our church. All­­together 148 members participated in the Lord’s Supper. October 24th was the date of our Sunday School’s Halloween Party. October 31st, Reformation Sunday was celebrated by all Hungarian Re­formed churches of the vicinity in our church. The offerings of this worship service, and the proceeds of our Grape Harvest Festival, hosted also by all the Hungarian Reformed Churches of the vicinity, will go toward the financial support of the Hungarian Reformed Ra­dio Program sponsored by the Hun­garian Protestant Ministerial Associa­tion of Pittsburgh and Vicinity. The program is broadcast every Sunday af­ternoon at 2:45 on WEDO, and AM station 81 on the dial, a CBS station. Members of the Association take turns preaching. November 7th is the date of our an­nual stewardship fellowship dinner. On this date, lay workers of the Calvin Synod will hold a meeting in our church, and will participate at the din­ner following their meeting. Pittsburgh and vicinity’s Hungarian Reformed Churches theorize less and act more to establish a Hungarian Reformed ecu­menicity.
