MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 15 Let’s Get Voluntary Prayer Back Into Our Schools JOINT RESOLUTION By Mr. Dirksen (January 15th) (Legislative Day, January 10th, 1969) Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States with respect to the offering of prayer in public buildings. Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled (twothirds of each House concurring therein), that the following article is hereby proposed as an amendment to the Constitution of the United States, which shall be valid to all intents and purposes as part of the Constitution when ratified by the legislatures of threefourths of the several States: “ARTICLE— “SECTION 1. Nothing contained in this Constitution shall abridge the right of persons lawfully assembled, in any public buildings which is supported in whole or in part through the expenditure of public funds, to participate in nondenominational prayer. “SECTION 2. This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by the legislatures of threefourths of the several States within seven years from the date of its submission to the States by the Congress.” Next our Declaration of Independence’s last paragraph says— “And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the Protection of Divine Profidence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor,” which means our History & Heritage was founded in the belief in God. Our School Systems functions is to teach and educate students to live in the community. Since the community has Churches and Ministers in it, they must accommodate religion! It too is a profession. The only way is through Voluntary Prayer which is basic to all religions! School is to let students have a choice to reject Prayer or God if they like. The community is to commit students to a specific Religion. Schools must back up what home and church are saying for our efforts at home or church will be in vain. By inference that which is left is left out of our child’s curriculum in school isn’t important or we are old fashioned. Write to your Congressmen and Senators! Chairman Emanuel Celler House Judiciary Committee 2136 Rayburn Building Washington, D. C. 20515 House Judiciary Committee: We the believers in God are firm in our committment to God and his Ten Commandments! The first one, You Shall Not Have Any Other God Before You! We the committed ones to God want Voluntary Nondenominational Prayer in our public schools. Prayer is basic to all religions and the only way to communicate with God. The Ten Commandments is the only yardstick to govern our nation of America. The schools must back up what home, temple or church is teaching, by committing child to God. The community will commit child to a Specific religion. The Commandments are Morals and a Heritage of the History of America. We fully support the late Senator Dirksen’s S. J. Res. 6 in the senate and H. J. Res. 449 in the House. Sincerely, Signed .......................................... Address ........................................
