MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 15 The Rev. Imre Bertalan, New Brunswick, N. J., was the guest preacher on July 13. Baptisms: Karin Janet, daughter of Ronald Piszar and Janet Elizabeth Hannapple; godparents: Myron and Patricia Wolansky. — Peggy Jeanette, daughter of Zoltán Milak and Viola Stankovics; godparents: Joseph Nemeth and Mrs. Jeannette Toth. Weddings: Paul Edward Slomski and Lily Marlene Cromwell; Robert John Wieman and Lisa Wynn Nagy. The Junior Women’s Guild plans a big Chinese Auction for Monday, September 8 for the benefit of the Bethlen Hall renovation. DETROIT-ALLEN PARK, This congregation again proved that it is a living, working representative of the Church of Jesus Christ, concerned with building the Kingdom of God. We have come to the aid of the Hungarian Reformed Church in Buenos Aires (Argentina), and have made this our regular missionary project. We gave this congregation $210 toward the purchase of a church auto and are contributing $60 monthly toward the salary of the pastor. This contribution has started with the month of June. Our church has made history by this missionary act and we hope that the example will be followed by other congregations. The installation of the air conditioning unit in the social háll has been completed and a dinner commemorating this event was held on August 17. The cost of the dinner was donated by a group of women from the Ladies Aid Society. The Bethlen Youth Conference will be attended by 15 young people and 4 adult advisors from our church. Rally Day is set for September 7. At this time the Sunday School and the two church choirs will resume their activities. Mrs. Steve Torok and her daughters, Mrs. Sophie Lock and Mrs. Ethel Kovács are giving a Benefit Social for the church on September 21, 3 P.M. The Men’s Guild will hold their “Millionaires Party” on September 27, beginning at 7 P.M. DUQUESNE, PA. Baptism: Amy Lynne Halpern, daughter of David Halpern and Eileen Palagy. Godparents: Alan J. Palagy and Sondra Fisher. Wedding: Alan J. Palagy and Sandra E. Krucik. Wittnesses: Marlene Lakovic and John Krucik. The Pastor and Miss Dorothy Horvath announced their engagement. The Pastor received the news from Hungary that his mother, Mrs. Louis Illés, nee Maria Losonczy, daughter of one of the former ministers in Hódmezővásárhely passed away at the age of 65. On August 10th we celebrated Harvest Home Communion. The different organizations are busily preparing to participate in the BYE National Conference, and the Presbyters’ and Ministers’ meeting in Ligonier. The focus of our activities in 1960 will be our mortgage burning, on October 12th. A detailed letter and more news in the next issues of “Magyar Egyház” will follow. Please keep this date open for attendance. A Junior Choir was formed by Mrs. Ann Shigo in the summer and they are busily preparing for activities in the fall. While the Pastor was on vacation, seminarian Bela Pohoczky substituted in the Hungarian, the Gideons’ International Representative and Alex Wargo in the English Worship Services. Deacon Frank Demes, Councilman John Estu and chiefelder Richard Heyz were the liturgists. McKeesport, pa. 101 members participated in “New Bread”-communion; 9 received the holy elements in their homes and in the hospital. Baptism: Timothy Michael, son of Michael Pattakos and Coleen Helms; godparents: Paul Wright and Judith Berkowitz. — Anton Scott, son of Edward Slack and Carol Sandra Close from Washington, D. C.; godparents: Ronald Evanco and Beverly Slack (Greensburg, Pa.). Wedding: Stephen Frank Zibrat and Diana Lynn Rausch; witnesses: Janet Zugeber and Michael Puskar. New members: Earl Tolone, husband of Elizabeth Biro, retired after 20 years of military service. Income for the first half of 1969: $18,259 (without last year’s balance); expenses: $10,762. Victoria Nagy graduated from the X-ray Technicians’ School and is employed in the local hospital. The Rt. Rev. Alexander Ráski, bishop of the Cistibiscan Synod, Miskolc, Hungary, will be our guest speaker at the Hungarian service on August 24. Seminarian Bela Pohoczky was our guest speaker at several occasions in the summer. September 14 will be our Bethlen Home Day. Our Annual Bazaar will be held late in October. Our women will be collecting donations for the bazaar in August and September. PERTH AMBOY, N. J. The Rev. Ronald McLennan and Stefan Török, theol. student, substituted the pastor on July 20th and 27th while he was on vacation. August 10th was Bethlen Home Sunday: the Rev. Alexander Daróczy, superintendent visited our church on behalf of our Orphanage and Home for the Aged. Our young people plan to attend the National Youth Conference at Camp Canestoga, Minerva, O. They will go by bus together with other area youth. The Annual Elders Conference on Labor Day-weekend will be attended by our delegates. John Marincsák, our chief elder is vice-president of the Association. The Eastern Area Elders Conference is scheduled for October 5th in Perth Amboy. Invitations will be sent to all churches. With the arrival of September and the fall season, activities of the various organizations will resume. All members are asked to help and participate in the church program.
