14 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ NEWS FROM THE CONGREGATIONS AKRON, OHIO The unification of our churches continues very smoothly and ac­cording to plans. On the first Sunday of Lent we had the first Holy Communion services together. On the March 17th meeting, our united youth group elected their new officers: president — Chris Binkley, vice president—Barbara Boehme, secretary—Debbie Sel­­nik, treasurer—Cindy Binkley, chaplain—Yolanda Herczegh. The Rt. Rev. Dr. Zoltán Beky, President of the Hungarian Re­formed Federation of America was the guest speaker of our March 15 banquet. The Fellowship Circle of the First Hungarian United Church of Christ was reorganized in our church. Burials: Mrs. László Szegedy and Mrs. Louis Varga. BETHLEHEM, PA. A second Ladies’ Society and a new Men’s Society were organized in March. Officers of the Men’s Society are John lVaros, Sr. president, An­drew Remenár vice-president, Ern­­nest Nemeth, Sr. treasurer, Joseph Biró controller. John Simon, vice-president and Leslie Fekete, treasurer became knights of the St. László Society. The elements of the Lord's Sup­per at Easter were donated by Mrs. Stephen Szalai. Mrs. Antal Jámbor celebrated her 90th birthday on March 13th. CARTERET, N. J. Lenten Communion participants numbered 120; one of the tradi­tions which should not be follow­ed is that only Christmas and Easter Communions are the “big” ones. As if there, was no need for repentance at other times. The traditional Installation Din­ner on March 10 gave also oppor­tunity to remember the Hungarian Freedom Day, March 15, 1848. Dr. Andrew Kovács (New York) gave an inspiring address in both, En­glish and Hungarian. Dr. Harsanyi was among the clergymen who participated in the service held in the First Baptist Church of Carteret in memory of D. Martin Luther King. “Orphanage Sunday” was ob­served on Marcii 17; the Rev. Alex­ander Daroczy, superintendent of Bethlen Home preached at both services. At Holy Thursday Communion we followed the pattern which had worked well in previous years: the liturgy was said alternately in English and Hungarian by the Pas­tor while the people could follow the text from a bulletin printed in both languages. Baptisms: Martha-Helen and Marian-Ethel, twin daughters of Frank Kazsuk and his wife, Ethel Mangyik; godparents were Alex­ander Sakson and Mrs. Gizella Babjak and Andrew Kantor and Miss Maria Mangyik, respectively. —Ann Marie, daughter of Robert Legeny and his wife, Julia Shovey; godparents were William and Pa­tricia Legeny.—Richard Alex, son of Alex Rasimovicz and his wife, Veronica Kutcher; godparents were Richard Matyi and Miss Be­verly Dressier. Funerals: Mrs. Frank Lencses (Ilona Martha) and Mrs. Charles Fazekas, Sr. (Elizabeth Viczicz­­ko). DUQUESNE, PA. Baptism: March 31st, Glenn An­drew, son of Andrew Gougler and his wife, the former Clara Hor­váth. Godparents: Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Two jay. Weddings: March 23rd, Edward T. Reutzel and Georgia Kallery, at the Heinz Memorial Chapel, mar­ried by the Rev. Louis Illés and Father Crawley. — March 29th, Frank Demes and Janice Horváth, in our church. Funeral: March 19th, William A. Nestor. Interment in our ceme­tery. The Men’s Club re-elected its of­ficers for the year 1968. Presi­dent—John Darnay, vice-president —Jules Nagy, secretarv-treasurer —Robert Szepesi. The Women’s Club held an ex­tremely successful “Calendar Par­ty” on March 10th. They also host­ed a reception for the girl-scouts of our city, who have attended our worship service on March 10th. Our Youth Fellowship held a successful family dinner on March 31st. The Rainbow Girls, Duquesne Assembly 156, held their annual service in our church, on Palm Sunday. The pastor officiated. NILES, OHIO (Southside United Pres. Church) A sudden and tragic death struck our congregation March 18, when Ernest C. Nagy lay-presi­dent of the Church passed away. He was a practicing Attorney at Law and a full time counsellor in the Legal Department of Arby’s International Corp., in Youngs­town, Ohio. He left a widow and four young children. His father, the late Julius Nagy also was the lay-president of this Church when he, too, succumbed to a heart attack five years ago. Elder Joseph P. Kish is the acting lay-president until the next annual congrega­tional meeting. Rev. and Mrs. Sewell spent their two weeks spring vacation in Flori­da in the latter part of March. Pastor Sewell participated in the memorial service held at the First Christian Church on April 6 for the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King. The traditional annual Spring Dinner of our congregation, spon­sored by the Young Ladies Auxil­iary, will be held on April 28. This event is usually attended by the dignitaries of the community. Well over two hundred dollars have been donated to the church in lieu of flowers in memory of Elder Ernest C. Nagy. They are gratefully acknowledged by our treasurer. A “Radio Sunday” wil he ob­served on May 5 by the Hunga­rian Churches of the Mahoning and Shenango Valley where the pastors are engaged in the Hun­­garian-American Religious Radio Broadcast service over Radio WPIC-FM 102.9 station in Sharon, Pa. every Sunday at 7:00 p.m. PERTH AMBOY, N. J. A representative of the Gideon Society will visit our church on Sunday, April 28th. The Eastern Area Youth Con­ference will be held in our center
