10 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ NEWS FROM THE CONGREGATIONS BETHLEHEM On May 1st we had a welcoming­­party for Mrs. St. Turóczy who ar­rived a month ago from Hungary to join her husband. The following participated in our Mother’s Day Combined Worship Serv­ice: Sándor Chomos Sr., Sándor Cho­­mos Jr., László Gréczy and Bruce Kuronya. The service was followed by a dinner in honor of the mothers. The elements of the Lord’s Supper for Pentecost were donated by Mrs. J. Buzi. Burial: Mrs. Joseph Péteri, IS, on April 19th. CARTERET Eight young people made profes­sion of their faith at the confirmation service on May 22nd: Mildred Audrey Blankley, Eileen Gloria Katko, David Montgomery Kijula, Randall Ernest Kijula, Sharon Joyce Kovács, Linda Joyce Novabilsky, Stephen Frank Pa­­loczie and Sandra Lee Williams. They participated in holy communion for the first time on Pentecost Sunday. The Men’s Fellowship had a suc­cessful spaghetti-dinner, the Junior Women’s Guild a well attended mother and daughter social and Sarah Coventry custom jewelry demonstra­tion. On Mother’s Day the Men’s Fellowship gave a small planter to every mother attending the service. Sunday School children gave a red carnation to their mothers. The pastor will attend the investi­ture of the Order of St. John Hospi­talers in Germany in June. U. S. Army Chaplain Ernest Kosa will supply the pulpit in his absence from June 12 to 26. The Lorantfy Society organized a surprise party in honor of Dr. and Mrs. Harsanyi’s 25th wedding anni­versary. July 31 is the summer family picnic date. Vacation Bible School will be held during the first two weeks in August. DUQUESNE Baptism. On May 1st Erica Lynne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex M. Nagy Jr. God-parents: Julius Nagy and Charlotte Probst. The Mother’s Day Dinner was very successful. It was sponsored by the Youth Fellowship and it was prepared by some of the council-men. The proceeds will be used to finance the trip to the youth conference. The picture enclosed shows part of the congregation at dinner. Our Church Library was open for inspection for the first time on Mother’s Day.The initial donation, the purchase of 100 volumes, was given by the Cheke family, in memory of their father, Ignatius Cseke Sr. On June 19th, 4 P.M., Lester D. Helmeczi, our ministerial student will be ordained in our church. A banquet will follow at 6 P.M. in his honor. Our Vacation Bible School will open on June 20th, Monday morning. PERTH AMBOY Our Men’s Club is in charge of the annual bowling banquet of the Church Athletic Federation, Friday, June 3rd, at 6:30 P.M. in our center. 35 teams participated in the tournament. The Christian Youth Fellowship will sponsor a “Fellowship Coffee Hour” Sunday, June 5th, after the 9:00 A.M., worship service. Patronize our youth. The Women’s Guild will sponsor the annual “Family Night” in Roosevelt Park on Tuesday, June 21st, from 5 P.M.. to dusk. The C.Y.F. “Honor The Graduates” dinner will be held on Thursday, June 30th at 6:00 P.M. All interested graduates, High School, Junior — College, etc. . . . contact the church office. Vacation Bible School for children beween 3 through 13 years of age will be held from June 27th to July 10th. Parents, please, register your children. May God bless them and help them to keep their vows. ROEBLING Our Vacation Bible School will be held as in the past. Parents may call the Pastor for registration. On Mother’s Day the dinner was prepared and served by the men and young people of our church. At the Annual Women’s Conference eight women represented our church. Mrs. Helen Bordash made a short re­port on the theme of the conference to the women of our church who could not attend the conference. STATEN ISLAND Orphanage Day will be observed June 12, the Rev. Alexander Daroczy will be our guest preacher. Mother’s Day dinner was sponsored by the Youth Fellowship. Our Sunday School children greeted the mothers with songs, poems, and recitations. Miss Charotte Kosa, member of our congregation was crowned queen of the Local Rose E. Scherer Triangle No. 90 of the Order of Eastern Star. Sunday School wiR close for the summer with a Children’s Day pro­gram on June 26th. New covers were donated for the Lord’s table, pulpit and lectern by Mrs. Alice Persecky, in memory of her late parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Szeles. We are grateful for the very timely gift. YOUNGSTOWN On May 22nd the following were confirmed during the English service: Helen Adkins, William Artz, Margaret Borko, Nancy Mislevy, James Pallai, Robert Paolone, Janice Smith, Ernest Such, Mary Lee Such, Jerry Varga, Debra Vantell and Julianne Welling­ton. The newly confirmed will take communion for the first time on Pentecost. On Mother’s Day the annual dinner wes sponsored by the Youth Group. 160 persons were present. The profit will be used by the Youth Group to attend the Bethlen Youth Conference. On April 23rd and 24th members of the Youth Group took part at the Western Classis Conference at Mc­Keesport, Pa., on May 1st at the Ohio-Western Pa. Youth Conference held at the West Side Church in Cleveland, Ohio. Our bowling team won the champion­ship in the Youngstown Protestant League. Congratulations!
