New officers of the Western Classis Youth Federation The business meeting began by Richard Apáti’s greeting to the fellowships. The election of new officers was one of the main topics of new business for the meeting. Newly elected officers are: Charlene Nagy, Duquesne, president; Bill Kish, Detroit, vice president; Mary Farkas, Akron, secretary; Brenda Bayus, Youngstown, treasurer; Sandy Martin, McKeesport, Andy Fodo, Detroit, Simon Adler, Akron, members at large. An amendment to Article 7 of the Constitution of the Western Classis was passed: instead of having 3 advisors (there used to be 1 minister and 2 laymen), it has been expanded to 5 advisors (2 ministers and 3 laymen). Advisors: Rev. Kalman Adorján, Youngstown; Rev. Louis Illés, Duquesne; Mrs. L. Apáti, Akron; John Farkas, Akron; Robert Szepesi, Duquesne. After the meeting a social evening of games and dancing took place. Sunday all the members of the youth fellowships participated in the worship service in McKeesport. A wonderful dinner was served afterwards. The discussion topic for Sunday afternoon was: “A Christian’s life from the cradle to the grave.” This was introduced by the Rt. Rev. Bishop Louis Nagy; Rev. Louis Illés led the group in discussion. Supper was served at 4:00 P.M. and the clubs began to leave an enjoyable weekend of Christian Fellowship. Next Classis meeting is planned for June in Akron. Mary Farkas AKRON The Akron I.A.H. Youth Fellowship elected it’s advisors and officers for the new year. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Binkley are our new advisors. Officers are: Mary Farkas, president; Joe Borbelly, vice president; Becky Streid, treasurer; Christy Binkley, secretary and Joe Markus, chaplain. Our youth group is looking forward to an enjoyable summer with plans for money making projects for the camp and recreational activities in Christian fellowship. Our new minister, the Rev. Tibor Demetor, has many wonderful plans that we hope to carry out. Mary Farkas DUQUESNE Our Youth Fellowship has sponsored the Mother’s Day Dinner of our congregation in support of next year’s conference fund. Robert Szepesi, advisor, was the chairman of the committee, and five council-men prepared the dinner; it was a great success. We are having a car-wash on June 11th to help us in our plans for the conference at Perth Amboy. This year’s confirmation class, ten of them, is helping a great deal; they also plan to attend the conference. We are anxiously awaiting to attend this conference in Perth Amboy to meet other new members, and also our old friends ... See you then .. ! Sharon Sapos DETROIT The Detroit youth group hosted a card party on April 12. We presented an Antique Fashion Show for entertainment. We had fashions from Adam to the present. All the girls had their hair set at a nearby beauty shop to match with the era of their costume. It was all very enjoyable. We netted $370 profit on the card party. On April 16, we served at a banquet which was the 70th anniversary of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America. We presented our fashion show there also. Four of our group members: Debbie Kaplar, Mary Kish, Eliz Kish, and Julie Rejko, presented a Hungarian dance. Julie Rejko McKeesport Our project for May was a bake sale on May 22nd. We are planning to go horse-back riding as a group on Memorial Day. This summer we plan to have only one business meeting a month. In August we will be participating with the Ladies’ Aid in our City’s International Village Yearly Event. We are eagerly planning and looking forward to the BYF Conference in September.
