MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 14 FRANCE-SOIR, the Paris daily, has launched a special feature, to run for one year, devoted to the stories of the Bible. An editorial said the series was offered because at a time when “man is striving to search out the furthest limits of the universe ... we thought it would be a good thing to return to one of the primary sources of wisdom and hope”. THE RT. REV. H. W. B. DONEGAN, Episcopal Bishop of New York, reported that his support of the civil rights movement has alienated some churchmen and resulted in the withdrawal of gifts amounting to millions of dollars which had been pledged towards completion of the (pathedral Church of St. John the Divine, New York. NEWS FROM THE CONGREGATIONS AKRON The Sunday morning order of worships is as follows: Hungarian Service at 9:30, Sunday School and Adult Bible Study at 10:30, English Service at 11 o’clock. The Rev. Ivan Konkoly arrived from England and began his ministry to the Akron Church. On November 28, the congregation expressed its thanks to the Rev. Dr. Balint Toth who supplied the pulpit during the vacancy. At the Annual Bazaar, on December 4th. John B. Farkas showed a film featuring the building of the new church from ground-breaking to its completion. A Candlelight Service is planned for December 19 with the youth group participating. BETHLEHEM Mr. and Mrs. Kalman Kovács joined our congregation. They are welcome in our fellowship. The Women’s Guild donated $1,000 for organ renovation. A dinner will be held by our Women’s Guild on December 5th, 6 P.M. in the Church Hall. We shall commemorate the 14th anniversary of the founding of our congregation. On December 19th: at 2:00 P.M. Christmas Party in the Church Hall; at 4:30 P.M. in the Hungarian Hall joint Christmas Party with our Hungarian sister churches. Guest performers will be the students of Miss Jeanne’s School of Dance Arts. CARTERET A Sunday School Christmas Service beginning at 9:30 will take the place of the morning worship services on December 19. A preparatory service to communion will be conducted Thursday, December 23 at 6:30 P.M. New Year’s Eve bilingual service at 6 P.M., New Year’s Day service in Hungarian at 11 A.M. Other holiday services are listed on page 15 of this issue. Members of the Youth Fellowship will go around carolling every night from Monday to Thursday during Thanks and appreciation is hereby expressed to all who helped in anyway to make it a successful affair. STATEN ISLAND The Church windows are worn out and beyond repair. The elders voted to install new stained-glass windows. The members understood and accepted this very important and reasonable plan. All the 14 windows were donated by church families in memory of their loved ones. The dedication will be in the spring. World Wide Communion was administered first time and many people lived with the elements. The elements wre donated by our former Youth Fellowship president Judith Szabó. Thanksgiving Communion to the New Wine — the holy elements were donated by Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Kutko and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kosa. A Service of Thanksgiving was conducted in both languages on November 24. Members of our neighboring American Reformed Church were our guests. The Rev. Charles Bloodgood delivered the English message. After the worship service coffee and cake was served at our Church Hall. Traditional caroling will take place after the Christmas Eve service. Women’s Guild Christmas Party on Monday, December 13. Sunday School Christmas Party on Sunday, December 19. Combined English-Hungarian services will be held on New Year’s Eve at 6 P.M. and on New Year’s Day at 10 A. M. YOUNGSTOWN The Rev. Kalman Csia preached at the combined Orphanage Sunday Services on November 14th. After the service John Halasé and his wife Mária Kovács renewed their marriage vows that they had taken 50 years ago. During a dinner held on the same day Mrs. Charles Lakatos presented to the couple the gift of the Ladies’ Aid. This year, as in the past, before Christmas we will visit the homes of our church members and with hymns we will take the good tidings to them. The Christmas Party for our Sunday School children will be held on December 19th at 3 P.M. Christmas week; they will /isit as many homes as they can. The Men’s Fellowship is tie sponsor of a New Year’s Eve Dinner- Dance at Bethlen Hall. Ticket 5 should be secured in advance from any member of the Fellowship. The Merrymakers will play. A beautiful new church d jor has been installed at a cost of $5 DO as a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Anthony De Stefano. Baptism. Corrine Dawn, daughter of Robert Anthony Jesienski and his wife Elaine Margaret Farkas, on November 28. PERTH AMBOY The order of divine worship services for the Christmas holiday season is listed elsewhere in this paper. A holiday letter will be mailed out to all members. Our choir will present A Service of Lessons and Carols on Sunday, Deember 19th at 9 A.M. The children’s Christmas Party will be held in our auditorium T ecember 19th at 2 P.M. The members of the Women’s Guild will be the hosts. Parents do not only bring the children to the Christmas Party, but send or bring them regularly to Sunday Scl ool. The Christmas Party of the Women’s Guild is scheduled for Tuesday, December 21st at 7 P.M. The annual New Year’s Eve dinnerdance will be held in our Auditorium. The Men’s Club will be in c large of the arrangements. Reservat ons are available from the members or the church office. Baptisms: William Joseph Tith, firstborn son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. J. Our annual thanksgiving banquet was attended by 475 people.
