MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 11 same atom of steel may someday become a part of the epidermis covering someone’s little finger. Aquired Characteristics — The French evolutionist Lamarck maintained that creatures acquire certain characteristics through environment, that those acquired characteristics are then passed on to the offspring who in turn develope them further, until eventually radical changes are affected and a new species is formed. The study of modern genetics — heredity — has proved the previously held theories of biologists, to the turn of the century, to be false. Natural Selection — This is a theory by which biologists claimed that through the process of evolution the body developed the organs so vital to us in our individuality by either discarding or building on what had been formed previously. Darwin noticed these variations in the offspring and their continuous struggle for existence; it was then he decided that useless variations perish while useful ones survived. The fallacy of the theory is evident. Again the evolutionists were forced to retreat and accept the fact that all families appeared suddenly with what they refer to as “unsatisfactory characteristics of creation.” Mutations — This is the latest attempt of the evolutionist to enshroud men’s minds to the begetting of his existence. As a last resort they have discarded the three aforementioned hypotheses and advanced the most startling of all explanations. Instead of claiming evolution by a series of gradual developments they purport that man attained his present level by a series of jumps from major form of life to another. Mutations is a process by which organic life is subjected to different forms of radiation viz, x-rays, or gamma rays from radioactive materials. Through this process it is possible to produce generations far in advance of their normal breeding cycles. However, instead of the results being gratifying and advancing the offspring to a higher level, the experimenters have been rewarded with creatures of a subnormal nature, inferior to what they started with. In the Quarterly Review of Biology, Dr. Clark of the Smithsonian Institution said: “So far as concerns the major groups of animals (of which man is the highest form) the creationists seem to have the better of the argument.” Here now are all your false Gods arrayed in all their naked splendor. Darwin himself finally conceded: “I imagine that probably all organic beings which ever lived on this earth descended from some primitive form which was first called into life by the Creator.” With the ever increasing mass of evidence compiled by science, the evolutionist has been forced to retreat. The theories of science change like women’s fashions casting it in the role of the Trojan horse in this classical conflict. What could be a more fitting dennouncement than to quote from Dan. 5:27: “You have been weighed in the balances and found wanting.” It is for this reason that we must turn to the Bible, where the original recording stands today as firmly as the day it was written; where no new theories have been advanced; where man was created by God and not evolved; where man has always been man and beast has always been beast. Joseph Olah, Jr. GODS PLAN Every human being has, somewhere along lifes’ journey a spiritual mission, and it is for the accomplishment of this mission, that God has created each individual, and endowed each one with the genius or talent necessary for the work. Those who recognize their higher calling and develop capabilities, so as to fulfill their purposes, to them alone is given the most supreme power,. From the growth and illumination of the spiritual or immortal soul, springs individuality and true blessedness. All the strife and discord of human existence arise from the mind and the will of the physical and corporeal man. God intended us to be physically strong and vigorous, and to fulfill His will, we must let our hearts be filled with love and not fear. We must live according to the will of God purifying our minds and our bodies for our Lord never strays from us. We are the wanderers from the path of righteousness. Self knowledge should be man’s highest goal, and. until he has acquired the power to face his own soul he will never be able to overcome his own limitations. How lamentably often many of us are accustomed, in moments of thoughtlessness, to give expression to cruelly cutting and sarcastic comments which wound the feelings of those of more sensitive temperaments. If we have the ability to discern the faults and weaknesses of others, we should employ it to discover our short comings, of which we may be sure there are many, and surely it is nothing less than offensive egotism for us to refer to the weaknessess of our neighbors until we have mastered our own. A very stupid place indeed would be this old world, if all mankind were modeled along precisely similar lines. But God in his infinite wisdom has created us, not perfect any of us, but each with an individuality which is entitled to the respect of our fellow man. It is not the tyranny of fate or circumstances that brings a man to degradation and sin; he comes by the pathway of degrading thoughts and desires. Nor does a man of higher principles fall suddenly into crime because of an external force. Deep in the heart the criminal thought has long been concealed, to burst into action when opportunity beckoned. Circumstances do not make the man, but often reveal him to himself. Therefore, man is the master of his own destiny, he is able to take his ship through life only if he accepts God as his pilot. Robert R.
