12 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ ENGLISH GOD THE FATHER SECTION BETHLEN YOUTH FEDERATION (Creation) The mystery of the Being of God that in the ONE GOD there are three equally divine and eternal Persons together: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, can not be understood and explained by our human mind. However, a study of the Holy Scriptures makes it clear that each of these divine Persons has different activities. Therefore, we can talk about the Father and his works and also about the Son and his works and the same way concerning the Holy Spirit. The Bible ascribes to the Father two great activities: the creation and providence. One of the basic teachings of our Christian faith is that God as Father created everything that exists. There is nothing existing that was not created by God. We can find in the bible even the mode and way as to how God created the world. He created the milliards of all visible and invisible things in six days out of nothing by his almighty divine power and wisdom. The record of the Bible concerning the creation of the world is ridiculed today by many people. They are just smiling at the mention of six days and that the world was created out of nothing. Those who deny the existence of God say simply that this world always eisted and will exist forever.. No one created it. But if you heed your own sober reasoning, you have to realize and admit that the creation of the world can not be imagined in any other way just as the Bible teaches it. Without a perfectly wise and powerful divine Creator, it was impossible for the world to come into existence. The world by itself never could be born out of nothing. Furthermore, we are informed in the Bible that God had brought forth two kinds of creatures, too, which basically differ from all the other creatures. The Creator regards them as his most precioous creatures. These are the angels and men. We shall say a few words about them in our future articles. The mind of man is often bothered with this question: what is the real reason that God created anything at all? Does He need it? The Bible gives us only one answer to this question: God had created everything for his own glory. The whole creation and every part of it should declare and reflect the glory of God, otherwise its existence is meaningless. In our next article we shall write about the providence of God.-----—---o---------Official “Magyar Egyház” news correspondent of the Bethlen Youth Federation: Florence E. Toth, 37 Dahl Avenue, Keasbey, New Jersey. — Please send all articles and club news before the end of each month. The advent of the Labor Day weekend saw Perth Amboy invaded by hosts of youth from both the East and West, where the 15th National Conference of the Bethlen Youth Federation was held. The registration was around 100, but many more attended from Carteret, Detroit, Duquesne, McKeesport, Roebling, Trenton, Perth Amboy, and Staten Island. The weekend not only provided us with an opportunity to renew old friendships and make new ones, but to strengthen the bonds of Christian fellowship and create greater enthusiasm toward our common goal — unification of the youth in all churches of our de nomination. The social part of our conference, per se, was unparalleled. The program of entertainment presented on Saturday evening showed a great deal of planning and hard work on the part of the Perth Amboy Club, for which they are to be commended. However, the spiritual part of this conference is most significant. It showed a re-dedication of our youth to those objectives which our predecessors had set as their goals but which, heretofore, had been carried from year to year without any decisive action. Evindence of this accomplishment was the appointment of two committees headed by Elmer Soltész (Trenton) and Frank Horvath (Duquesne) to fully investigate and act upon the holding of our next national conference at a centrally located camp site, and to prepare a definite overall spiritual program for our youth. The business meeting also brought out the need for a more closely knit oragnization so that a clearcut relationship exists between the local clubs and the central organization. Membership cards were issued to those having paid their annual dues, and the use of membership pins was unanimously voted upon and will be available in the near future. The conference speaker, Rev. Dr. George Boyd of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, used the conference theme, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God,’’ for his message. It was well presented and of great inspirational value to all of us. The business meeting was so lengthy that is was adjourned and re-convened on Monday morning. It was culminated with the installation of the following officers for the coming year: President—Jos. Olah, Jr. (Duq.); Vice President—Violet Pastor (Detroit): Secretary—Priscilla Szabó (P.A.); Treasurer— Ethel Milak (Ca.); Elmer Soltész (Trenton) and Julius Nagy (Duq.)—Members-at-large from the East and West respectively. Reverend Dezső Abraham and Reverend Stephen Szőke were appointed advisors. An outing was held at Roosevelt Park on Monday afternoon to bring the conference to a close. All in all, it is a conference we shall long remember, and one which we hope is indicative of the spiritual enthusiasm of our youth that will bring us
