Wisst Ihr, dass im österreichischen Lager

ein kleines Holzhaus errichtet ist. wie es die österreichischen Pfadfinder alljährlich für ihre Sommerlager in allen Teilen ihres Heimatlandes aufstellen, dass die Musikkapelle der Salzburger sclbstangefertigte Holz-Blasinstrumente von ungeheurer Grösse mitgebracht hat

dass die Pfadfinder aus Salzburg und Tirol zur Pfadfindertracht ihre heimischen Lederhosen und weisse Wollstrümpfe tragen.

dass der Eingang zum Salzburger Lager mit einer riesigen Kuhglocke versehen ist, wie sic die Leittiere auf den Almen tragen, dass der älteste österreichische Pfadfinder ö’/j-mal so alt ist, als der jüngste, und doch ebenso frisch an allen Veranstaltungen teilnimmt,

dass das Tor der niederösterreichischen Abteilung mit Wcinlaub geziert ist, als Zeichen für den guten «Heurigei», den cs in Nicderösterrcich gibt,

dass die Fahnenstangen beim Eingangstor wirklich aus Österreich mitgebracht wurden, weil es in Ungarn angeblich keine so langen schlanken Tannen gibt, wie in unseren Bergen,

dass in einem eigens für diesen Zweck erbauten Salzburger-IIaus bei der Arena Pfadfinderfertigkeiten und Webeblätter unseres herrlichen Heimatlandes erhältlich sind,

und dass alle Pfadfinder hoffen, recht viele von Euch nach dem Jamboree in Österreich begrüssen zu dürfen?

Eure österreichischen Pfadfinderbriider freuen sich auf Euren Besuch im Sublager V. M. B.

America greets the Camp

The 405 Scouts and Seoutcrs who have come front Amctica to the Fourth World Jamboree bring greetings and good wishes on behalf of the six million active and former Scouts and Scouters in the United States.

Those who have had the privilege of routing arc but a small portion of the thousands who have bcc-n looking forward to this oppoitiinity of showing their good will for their good will for their brother Sfoats the world over. Economic conditions arc responsible for the reduction in the number from the number which Attended the last Jamboree.

America which has been called the „tr.cli'ng pot of the world“ has as actively enrolled Scouts group of boys from most of the nations represented here al the

Jamboree, but here we get an opportunity to more vividly appreciate the difference in language, customs, and iu other respects. Therefore it is more impressive as we realize that through the game of Scanting and its ideals we are tied together in one great world brotherhood.

Wc from America are grateful to our horts. the Hungarian Scouts, and want fo j help them in making this, the Fourth World Jamboree, the best ever.

Wc extend a hearty welcome to all lo visit our ramp and help us to become better aenuninted.

A finn totem

Finn testvéreinket a eserkészs/.olidaritás kőtel kein kívül a vér évezredes kapcsa is hozzánk fűzi. Kellemes meglepetés éri a látó-at.it a finnek táborában. Középen szokott állni a Kalevalából ismert öreg Vüinümüincn szobra: ez a íinii cserkészek „t«trn»“-«c. Most a finn niitliotógia alakjának a helyet három nyírfából faragott csodaszarvas foglal-a cl. A köz 'psö eüil vágtat: szügy éré van Írva: „Magyarország**. Balra mögötte surran a jövő titokzatos utjai felé „Festi“, — vagyis Észtország, jobbra ^S::omi“, vagyis [ innország csodaszarvasa. Agancsaik fagyökerek, testük magasrendu művészettel kifarag tt s összeállított nyírfatörzs.

4 tábor kapujában A. Akerman finn delegátus fogadott bennünket. Kérdeztük — mi adta az ötletet az uj finn totemhez.

A. Akerman a testvei i szereid melegségével fogott velünk kezet s igy szólt:

— Ez a három nemzet összetartozik: L.stvcrnépck s ezért a csodaszarvas vezetése alatt egy cél fel.'* törtetünk előre. Öntudatos együttcrz'ssel o’ketF'k meg az összetartozásnak ezt a hármas szobrát.

— Itt faragták ki?

— Nem. Odahaza készült a finn-magyarészt testvériség szimbóluma.

Mélyen meghat bennünket a finnek figyelme.

A. Akerman mosolyogva folytatja:

— így van ez rendjén! Boldogan jöttünk a magyarok közé. A szivünket a tenyerünkön hoztuk. S a magyarok teleszórták a vonatunkat virággal. Nagyon jól esett. Mintha legközelebbi rokonaink látogatására jöttünk volna. A magyarok szeretnek minket — teszi hozzá komoly meggyőződéssel.

Megnézzük finn testvéreink kiállítását, a világrekordot ért finn papucsokat, iparművészeti remekeket, a Jamboree-n egyedülálló táti őri konyhát, amely egyetlen fiú idejét s erejét köti le. A hatalmas gépezet (mert az!) egyszerre háromfélét főz és gőzzel működik. Most építik a finnek a ..gőzfürdőjüket“. Forró kövekre öntött viz szolgáltatja a gőzt.

Lázas írniuk a folyik. A finn tábor egyesiti magában a finn haza különleges szépségeit.
