490 SOCIAL CONDITIONS OF TECHNOLOGICAL CHANGE The author reviews the neopositivistic standpoint on the relationship between technological development and social problems and refers to the critique of George Lukács on this topic which was expounded in his 3-volume work "The Ontology of Social Existence". Technological innovation and its introduction do not solve social problems if corresponding socially determined causal chains are not established. The pace of technological change is determined by the relationship between the objective-technological side and the subjectivehuman side of social production. The advancement of economy and technology also depends on the proportion of these two elements and when they are developed, the human factor should be given priority. By the human : factor not only man in production /human capital/ but his "productive force",too, is meant. This concept includes not only the educational level , qualifications or trade structure but the total determinateness of productive force which has evolved historically. Thus this concept may be identified with the notion of the "productive force of society". When modern technology with electronic and informatic bases is introduced, the social roots of its emergence and the mechanism of its dissemination should be revealed because their negligence may result in a halt of technological development. SOME CHARACTERISTICS OF THE INNOVATION AGE The systems approach to innovation and its complex interpretation are demanded by the beginning of a new scientific and technological era. This interpretation should take into account the spread of microelectronics, laser and computer technology and robotics as well as their impacts on society . The article outlines the models of innovation from the aspect of systems approach and that of process; it discusses the origin of innovative ideas, the world standard, trends and structure of innovation, then it analyses Hungary's position in innovation in an international context . THE ANALYSIS OF RELATIVE AND PARTIAL INDICES DERIVED FROM THE BIBLIOGRAPHICAL DATA OF SCIENTIFIC PUBLICATIONS The investigations discussed by the author aimed at deriving indices from the bibliographical data of some scientific journals selected from chemistry and related fields in order to reveal some special features of the individual researchers' activities, e.g. the speed of research, habits of publication and citing. The article treats publication time indices, the publication strategy index and citation strategy index, their modified versions and the limits of their use.
