L AM İ'Î ÇFLEBİ was mystic, poet and author. He was born in Bursa, his original name being Mahmud. He presented his work Hiisn ii dil to Sultan Bayezid II (1483-1512) and as recompense, he received a monthly allowance. Once financially secure, the poet devoted himself to sciences and arts for the rest of his life; he is the author of numerous works. Şem u pervane is an allegorical mystical love story.
