The Mongol Collection
dörbelfin ceg is the imprint of a square seal framed with meander ornament (alqan ke) and inscribed in Tibetan characters: dharmâ. The Tibetan original of the work commented was composed by ügülegci [smra-ba] Bsodnams grags-pa rnam-dpyod mchog-gi sde in the Rnam-rgyal Dge-ldan monastery; his scribe was sayin nomlal ügtllegéi Vâgindra-dharmakîrtti. The commentary was compiled in Tibetan by Dbyans-éan dga-ba'i blo-gros at the request of Naiman lha-rams-pa Nag-dban bstan-'jin. It was translated by dge-slon Nag-dbang blo-bzan skal-bzan sbyin-pa [= Vâgindra-sumatikalpa-bhadra-dâna] at the request of Blo-bzan Ihun-grub, head of the Geldan DaSicoyimpilling monastery (Cicanovskij dacan). The print was initiated and sponsored by Blo-bzan kun-dga' siregetü bla-ma and Geleg yoloba [Russ. gol ova/ gl ava], the postscript (keb-iin temdeg) was written by the translator. The fragment of the last folio of another, older blockprint on Chinese paper is kept together with this Buryat book; it has two printed icons showing Yamântaka and ári Devî, their names given in Tibetan (Ghos-rgyal and Lha-mo). Mong. 325 Chahar Taxbook from 1942 Chinese manuscript, 108 double leaves, 20.4 :26.5 cm (19.8 cm between the upper and the lower margin), sewn together between dark blue satine covers; text frame and rules printed in red (the page is divided into an upper and a lower half, each with 11 vertical half-lines; no pagination; Chinese shorthand, brush, black ink. Rincen. 1966. 2[?] sar-a-yin 5-a. Title in black, written on the red label (10.7 : 13.5 cm) glued to the right-hand cover: Menggu zhang! Cheng j i qisanqi nian ji li "Mongol Account. Set up on a lucky [day] of the 737th year of commemorating Chinggis Khan('s enthronement)." F. [la]: the twenty pieces of one fen receipt-stamps glued and stamped seven times; the stamps are inscribed in Chinese and Mongolian, Cha-ha-er mengyinhua shuipiao = Caqar ayulyan ..., over a landscape with camel drivers. Below the stamps, Rincen's hand: edeger qorin sirkeg temdegtü btlrin bui keb-iyer Majar-un elcin-e tusiyaba: "These twenty pieces of stamps are complete. (I) handed them to the Ambassador of Hungary as they are." (I.e., all of them should reach intact the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, as mentioned in his first note.) 399
