The Mongol Collection
The vertically written Chinese text begins from f. [lb]: tao bao "finding security", etc. A separate Chinese document, a permit for leaving with a vehicle, is kept together with the taxbook. All in Chinese, it is a lithographed form with brush-written characters in the blank spaces; dated of the 736th year of Chinggis Khan (the 21th day of the 6th lunar month). A further document of the period here is a small piece of a paper box with the remnant of a stamp inscribed: Menggu lianhe zichi zhengfu ... "The Autonomous Government of the Mongolian Confederation", etc. (over a landscape with camels). Mong. 326 Norbu-Ğoyimpil's Genealogy of the Khalkha Nobles Manuscript, mid-19th century pothi of greenish blue Russian paper with wires (and traces of water-mark, e.g., f. 31: [1]840 below the figure of two ships on waves), 35.5 : 8.3 (red double-lined frame, 28.3 : 6.7) cm, Mongol pagination (recto, left margin, brush, beyond frame), 31 lines/recto, calamus calligraphy, black and red ink.
