An entry in the council meeting minutes from December 14 mentions other graves that were found without grave goods, and the fact that the artifacts collected would be brought to the National Museum at the expense of the Hungarian State (City Council minutes 1848,4619). Public display of the royal graves attracted great interest both in the city and in nearby villages. Discovery of the royal graves became national news and inspired the poet János Garay (1812-1853) to compose his work “ Síri hang az élőkhöz” [Voice from the grave to the living].
