BÍRÓ FROM STONE ARTIFACTS OF NEOLITHIC PLACE OF ACCURENCE OF KUP-EGYES The archaeological material recovered from the Kup site involved, according to the analysis of the pottery and the settlement features, two different horizons, reflected in the lithic assemblages as well. The material attributed to the Linarband Pottery Culture contains unusually high amount of stone artifacts, mainly the evidence on the local processing of the Upper Cretaceous Tevel flint outcropping in the immediate vicinity of the site. Outstanding pieces of the assemblage are the huge blade cores made of this material Among the non-local materials, radiolarite of the Bakony sources lying some 30 kms far from the site was extensively used. A borer made of Jurassic Craców flint completed the chipped stone assemblage. The Lengyel stone tool assemblage is relatively poor compared to the abundance of LBC lithics here as well as the general amount of stone tools recovered from Lengyel sites, comprising a higher ratio of morphological tool types, fitting well into the general image on Lengyel lithics.
