Radchenko, G. Alexander: The ant fauna of Őrség, Western Hungary (Hymenoptera: Formicidae)

RADCHENKO, G. A. : The ant fauna of Őrség (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) 6. Euro-Caucasian [EC] — similar to European forest and South-European complexes, but spread in Caucasus. 7. Amphipalaearctic [A] — characteristic example of disjuncted areas: on west is close to Euro-Caucasian, but distributed to Far East. 8. Mediterranean [M] — species are widespread in Mediterranean region, sometimes in N-W Africa, frequently in Central Europe, in Caucasus and even in western Kopetdagh. 9. Steppe [S] — species are widespread mainly in steppe zone of Eurasia, in forest and desert zones, inhabit intrazonal biotopes. Transpalaearctic, Boreal, Euro-Westsiberian, European forest, South-European and Euro-Caucasian ant species are predominated in fauna of őrség (Fig. 3.). They are widespread principally in the forest zone. Mediterranean and Steppe species are found here which penetrated from southern regions of Europe. Typical for this fauna is the presence, in the same biotopes, of species belonging to rather remote Zoogeographie complexes and strongly differed in ecological attitude (for example C. herculeanus [B], A. subterranea [A], M. rubra [T] and L. affinis [SE] etc.).
